To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Roy Williams and his teammates pull a fast one on him and make a payback for camp snub.

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
I think that is taking things too far. 54 grand and leaving someone to pay that is just wrong.
|
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
And to think we should be sitting 3-0 and those sorry suckas are fixing to get on a roll. wtf
|
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Yea,I agree...
I'm sure he has no trouble paying for it,but that is a pretty crappy thing to do in general. If I were playing for a team that did that to me,it would leave a bitter taste in my mouth. That's just not cool... On the flipside, hopefully this becomes a problem and there's a trust and personal conflict that results in a locker room division that results in players fighting on the sidelines,on the field and putting personal blame on all of each other...lol |

With his money its not that big of a deal. |
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
This is not an uncommon thing for teams to do to rookies. Young players are stuck with massive bills all the time

Looks like this article makes a lot more sense now. Almost 80 Percent of NFL Players Nearly Bankrupt, 60 Percent of NBA Ballers? Why? |

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant

If you even THOUGHT about bringing heat into the Cowboys locker room - - can you spell Gilbert Arenas? -- you would be out of the league in 30 seconds flat. If you couldn't deal with your vet teammates putting you and your big contract "in place" during the season, you'd be out of the Cowboys' locker room with a reputation for being an "entitled p*ssy" in less time. This is SOP in the NFL. This one may be a tad extreme, but that is the deal - - the same way that duct-taping rookies to a goal post in August is SOP. Dirtbag359: You are absolutely right; this is a large part of the reason why so many ex-NFLers - - and pros in other sports too - - are bankrupt soon after retiring. Generally, these are not sophisticated/educated folks and many of them cannot understand the harsh reality that the "money spigot" will eventually - - maybe even soon - - be cut off. It's great to be aboe to afford to pick up a tab left for you as a hazing stunt for $50K while you are making millions. But the day will come... |

It's obviously a good thing I am not a Cowboy so I don't have to cap Roy Williams (well who would really mind). I imagine that the title of "Entitled Pus..y" is a highly sought after award in that locker room?? AND BTW, I wasn't.....really serious. HTTR SC |
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Who was it that was dumped with a giant tab at a Pro Bowl? This type of stuff happens all the time.

Glad to know you weren't really serious. The NFL Security Folks might have put you on a watch list had you not made that clear... "Entitled P*ssy" is not a label a player wants to wear when his agent goes looking for his next contract. Makes no difference which locker room hung that label on him... |
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
there are tons of reasonable and well-thought out ideas in this thread...
buuuutttttttttttt... ...i'm gonna be honest and say i actually laughed out loud while reading this entire article. i KNEW these dudes were gonna stick dez at some point, and get him good. they had to make an example of him, lol. above all, i just hope he stays salty about this all season and it creates some locker room tension! |

Who says you HAVE to cap him in the locker room? You could just go to his house.

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Should have carried the pads, kid. :D
|
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
I'm sure he knew something like that was coming. If he didn't then wow, what an idiot.
|
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
meh, mere chump change for him.

After taxes and agent fees it's a lot of money. |
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
He got $8M guaranteed, I think he can afford a 54k dinner. That's life as a 1st round rook. Especially one that thought he was above carrying pads.

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
From Adam S.
A different Hard Knocks RT @adbrandt: Dez Bryant's 2010 salary is $320,000. Spent 17% of it - $55,000 - for dinner the other night. RT @TitansFootball: Bryant has 5-yr $11.8M contract w/$8.5M gtd. How is his 2010 salary only $320k? ... Teams pay big bonuses, low bases. |

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Latest total, $55K for dinner, $8K for tip = $63,000.00 dinner.
Someone did the math and that was 1,000 filet mignons at that restaurant. Reports were that the players were carrying full bottles of wine and champagne out "to go". None of his teammates will publicly admit to being there when asked in interviews. |
Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
^it was all alcohol man. forget the restaurant name, but there's a pic you can google of some guys receipt for a 50k dinner for 6 in nyc. it's normal appetizers, entrees and deserts, all expensive of course but nothing unheard of. then they order 6 bottles of wine, ranging from 2-10K each. ridiculous!
and lmao you KNOW dez tipped $20 on that check. |

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
I'm guessing there were maybe 50 of them, so that's a little over 1K per -- not too excessive when you consider they were taking home bottles of wine and whatnot.
And, yeah, he got a check for 8 million dollars earlier this year, so 50K is a drop in the bucket. |

Given the size of his contract, it might not seem to be. But add up the taxes, the outlay for agents and other representatives, and he surrenders at least 30 percent of that $8.3 million. Tally the financial support he may be expected to provide for family members, and ... well, no one will feel sorry for him, but if his body wears out before he gets another deal, he won't remain a rich man unless he is very, very prudent.
LOL "He might get hurt and only be left with a million dollars! Oh my God his life will be ruined!" |
