To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Roy Williams and his teammates pull a fast one on him and make a payback for camp snub.
Dinner tab for Dallas Cowboys rookie Dez Bryant comes to $54,000 - ESPN Dallas

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
I think that is taking things too far. 54 grand and leaving someone to pay that is just wrong.

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Yea,I agree...
I'm sure he has no trouble paying for it,but that is a pretty crappy thing to do in general. If I were playing for a team that did that to me,it would leave a bitter taste in my mouth. That's just not cool... On the flipside, hopefully this becomes a problem and there's a trust and personal conflict that results in a locker room division that results in players fighting on the sidelines,on the field and putting personal blame on all of each other...lol

This is not an uncommon thing for teams to do to rookies. Young players are stuck with massive bills all the time

Hog1:
If you even THOUGHT about bringing heat into the Cowboys locker room - - can you spell Gilbert Arenas? -- you would be out of the league in 30 seconds flat. If you couldn't deal with your vet teammates putting you and your big contract "in place" during the season, you'd be out of the Cowboys' locker room with a reputation for being an "entitled p*ssy" in less time. This is SOP in the NFL. This one may be a tad extreme, but that is the deal - - the same way that duct-taping rookies to a goal post in August is SOP. Dirtbag359: You are absolutely right; this is a large part of the reason why so many ex-NFLers - - and pros in other sports too - - are bankrupt soon after retiring. Generally, these are not sophisticated/educated folks and many of them cannot understand the harsh reality that the "money spigot" will eventually - - maybe even soon - - be cut off. It's great to be aboe to afford to pick up a tab left for you as a hazing stunt for $50K while you are making millions. But the day will come...

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
Who was it that was dumped with a giant tab at a Pro Bowl? This type of stuff happens all the time.

Glad to know you weren't really serious. The NFL Security Folks might have put you on a watch list had you not made that clear... "Entitled P*ssy" is not a label a player wants to wear when his agent goes looking for his next contract. Makes no difference which locker room hung that label on him...

Re: To be young and naive -Dez Bryant
there are tons of reasonable and well-thought out ideas in this thread...
buuuutttttttttttt... ...i'm gonna be honest and say i actually laughed out loud while reading this entire article. i KNEW these dudes were gonna stick dez at some point, and get him good. they had to make an example of him, lol. above all, i just hope he stays salty about this all season and it creates some locker room tension! |
