Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

Seems like over the past week or so the traffic on here is starting to slow. Maybe it is due to the holiday or is becasue we are all just tired of arguing/ discussing the same thing over and over.

I think I predict a few months back we eventually just be arguing if it is less filling or taste great. Are we at that point now?

I know I am seriously starting to careless and less about the NFL.

Re: Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

Things usually pick up dramatically around training camp time - summer lull, that's all. If they go to camp, all is well. If they don't, GMScud should be the first MOD to see the door:)

thought this was a joke when I first saw the title, but I agree w/you that there's a lull. Isn't it usually like this after the draft & we're waiting for camp/rookie signings?

Re: Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

For what it is worth, I check here often, but don't really post much, cuz I can't get to excited about football with the court stuff going on. On the other hand, (and call me traitor) the Cowboys board has had several very interesting discussions/debates about the lockout/court issues, with several negotiation lawyers weighing in on both sides of the fence.

It is, but you also usually have OTA's and things that let you look at the draft/FA class. Imagine if we were discussing Kerrigans impact on the other side of Orakpo, or how Hankerson was looking on the field. Far more substance to carry through this down time.

Not sure about specific traffic numbers, I haven't bothered to check. Not much to talk about lately I do know what.

The downturn in the economy really hurt us more than anything. A lot of advertisers dried up completely or cut their rates.

Re: Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

What do you want to talk about though? We've done all the speculation, covered the draft and free agency, it just comes down to when Football starts... It'll pick up.

Wish I had confidence that Training Camp will actually take place. I felt pretty sure that some OTA's would be missed, but this would be over by Training Camp.

Now I am not so sure. Read today that Cris Collinsworth is so sure that at least half of the season will be missed, he took a job helping coach his sons High School Football team. No pay, just something to kill the time.

Re: Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

Not at all, there are still as many crazy impossible trade scenarios and unrealistic FA desires as any other off-season at the WP.

Seems like business as usual, except for the extra legal jargon thrown in.

I will say I've slowed down the WP for a few weeks but I usually do this time of the year anyway.

We could start "Dallas Sucks" thread Or a "Tony Homo" thread. They never get old.

I actually don't post much in this section when there is no football being played unless something has happened. Add the fact that I had an employee leave/move and one is on vacation for two weeks and I'm haaving to actually work. On top of that we got hit by lighting knocking out the office phones 3 computers and the copier, fax, and scanner so thats been a bitch. That lighting strike came from a bad storm so I have allot of customer calling to file claims and I have one working computer.

Yeah same here, it's hard to get excited about anything when the only thing to talk about is the lockout. I still check in often enough, but I hardly post anymore.

Re: Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

So looks like a mix bag. I seriously could come to this site just for the parking lot. I feel like it has definitley slowed down but to be expected since there is really nothing to talk about on the main topic of discussion: "Redskins Football."

I wish this crap would end so we could get back to talking about Redskin football.

I can personally say I've slowed down my posting after the draft but I still read some of the threads. The lack of activity has really been a killer for me. I'll be back when the games return but I'm not really interested in discussing many of the topics at hand.

Every time I check in the same titles are atop the board. We've worn them out.... so until something starts to happen looks like they'll remain.

From what I've seen the Warpath is the second most active Redskins message board, personally I'm not worried.

The lockout has actually helped. Usually at this time we get an influx of new members, about 90% of whom don't last long here anyway. This lockout is saving us the trouble of dealing with them.

But it's not giving Scud time to work on his new found mod skills.

When do we get paid for posting? This scholarship crap isn't cutting it. You and Matty are making a ton of money off this site with virtually no cost to offset profits. We the posters are key in bringing in money to this site we deserve to get paid. Especially considering how many lurkers...err fans we bring in here to watch our post. Thats right, they come to see us post, not you guys "moderate" or whatever you guys claim to do around here.

F**k this I'm going to go get a tatoo. A free one....because you know I can't afford it.

Matty doesn't make any money off this site. Not even any of the other mods. Only I do, I funnel the ad money to a secret offshore account I have at Castaway Cay. A portion of it then goes to Summo to fund his creativity.

We had to extradite him back to the Philippines after...well, let's just call it the Count Duckula incident. He'll be on an episode of Locked Up Abroad later this year (I'm going to feel awful if any of this is true...which it's not...but if it is!)

Re: Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

Seriously?

Of course! -- there's no football and no hint of an end to the lockout. Out of sight, out of mind. You've whittled the boards to the (1) most bored, and (2) most loyal.

Hard to talk for 9 months about football without... football.

Re: Is the lockout hurting the Warpath?

Funny thing about the young guns is you never know how they're goign to turn out. Quake and myself for example loved started threads on existing topics. My two main threads game out as http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/10688-charles-rogers.html and http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/10744-pass-rusher.html . Eventually though people learn their way around and suddenly you have a quality poster.

Tell me about it! I was hoping by this time to have my ban-body count approaching double digits! Oh well, if I get bored enough I can always just show Saden and 12th the door. ;)

I agree that the lack of influx of fluff newbies with no staying power has kept the board tidy. If there isn't a ton of subject matter, it just is what it is. No need to create stuff out of thin air.

we ain't afraid of no GMScud round here!
