London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"

How sad is it that even the players acknowledge that the fans are too quiet?
If I lived on the East Coast I'd be there every week making a noise. :woot: |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
Our fans were a force at RFK. Of course, we were winning and the stands were loud because they were falling apart but we need to get back to that. We had the original 12th man....screw Seattle.

Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
Probably will never have "home field" advantage like in the past due to the sheer capacity of the stadium and the high cost of going to a game. Look no further than Jerry Jone's new palace, yet still had a huge Chicago fan base in that game last week.

You would think with the capacity of the stadium that the more voices, the louder it would be. I've watched several 'skins games on TV in the past where it seemed like the place was rocking and loud, but in recent years, things have been quiet. Luckily, having something to be excited about (RGIII) will get things going for the fans to start cheering louder. Plus - if the team wins on a regular basis, the fans are going to be loud. I think right now, fans who attend and don't attend the games watch the games with refrained optimism, and often feel their cheering is going to turn into to boos by the 4th quarter because the lead goes away far too often. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
You feel the noise more in a smaller stadium with the fans closer to the field like in RFK. I'm no sound engineer but I think the acoustics of RFK helped that "crowd noise" feel that FedEx can't

This is especially true in Seattle where the shape of the stadium funnels all the sound down to the field. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
I think some of the problem is the open stadium. If they keep winning FedX will get louder. My buddy was at the game and said it was pretty loud most of the game.

Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
Trickle down stadium noise. Lower ticket prices to allow poor crazy people to attend games and find ways to serve more alcohol. Like buy beer one get two free. Stadium noise problem solved. Might need National Guard to fix new problems.

Seriously. I was looking into going to a game, but tickets are like $100 bucks each and that's for the nosebleeds! And I refuse to pay to sit under the overhang and not see any live action or have an obstructed view. If tickets could come down another $20-30, or had the similar prices to baseball tickets, I'd be there every Sunday. |

That makes sense. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
Conversely the noise in Mercedes Benz Superdome was loud enough that my wife wore ear plugs all game. Loudest seemed to be when the Redskins fans grouped in the lower section behind the Skins bench were chanting "RGIII!" at the end of the game as he came over.
The Saints have nice fans, very drunk but lots of fun. Last season we were at Seattle and I think due to the weather and the standings of both teams the crowd were fairly subdued. Haven't been back to Fed Ex since 2005, opening day kick-off against the Jets. The place was insane and I was a little giddy about the whole experience, it being my first time there. |

i've read that before too. the fans are being just as loud as other fans... the acoustics at FedEx are just not good. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
I'm a little surprised. It REALLY sounded (across the TV) like FEDEX was really on fire..........
Not like BITD at RFK.......but |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
weren't they also able to "sneak" the diesel horn into rfk?
has anyone been to a ravens game? i haven't been in several years, but they do a great audio/visual job to help keep fans involved. ravens example: when the ravens would get a 1st down, they played some video w chains moving and audio of chains clanking, i don't remember them playing any commercials during the actual game. redskins example: redskins get a 1st down, they play a commercial for a local bank, really inspiring stuff. lame |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
Watching on tv, after RG's long run it sure sounded LOUD. But maybe that was just me. :)

Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
There are 3 reasons that FedEx is not that loud:
1. The amount of opposing fans (there were a ton of Vikings fans in my section). I was in the mens room when I heard cheering, I knew the vikes were close to scoring. I thought we had intercepted again, but the vikings TE scored. The cheering was so loud I thought it was for the skins. 2. The club level is never sold out, most of the attendees are corporate types that are not going to cheer. 3. The open roof and design doesnt create the acoustic bounce back that stadiums like RFK used to. |

Yup....it's insanely loud and those fans never ever sit down. Super dome is pretty damn loud too, especially when they chant "Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?" Going to these stadiums is an experience. |

Fletcher needs to worry more about getting beat on jump balls.

When I see film of old RFK rocking it looks full of hard core middle class die hards. Die hards have a hard time explaining spending so much geetus going to a game with economic struggles at home. It showed an endzone shot from behind the offense yesterday during an important Vikings drive in the 4th quarter you could see the stands behind the defense everyone was sitting there like they were in church. Jerry world has it worse by far full of cocaine and boob job types that dont have a clue about fb they treat going to a game like a vacation experience. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
Probably another reason why fans no longer want to attend games.

Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
No offense to the people commenting here, but there is no science to the lack of home field advantage. The Redskins have been most of the time a subpar team in the past decade, so fans are not willing to put up all that money to go games.
Now that we have a superstar in the making and hopefully a winning team things are going to change. |

That's the key. The NFL has out priced the very people and fans that made the game great. Games like the Super Bowl are now full of corporate sponsors or people who mortgage a small loan just to go. Throw in the fact they make you pay full price for 2 preseason games and add in parking and it's not really financially smart(or emotionally rewarding) to invest in season tickets. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
we also dont pump "crowd noise" thru our speakers like some stadiums..........
|
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
I hear what your saying Ruhskins, everyone loves a winner. Hope we can string together a few 12+ win seasons together and see what the turnout looks like.

I just got upgraded to section 130 row 2. Those fans flip out as soon as you stand up. Honestly, I want to stand up the whole time the defense is on the field and yell. Half the time those fans are yelling when the offense is on the field. And yes there were allot of Vicking fans. But that was the first game I saw allot of oppsing fans. The thing that will make FEDEX LOUD IS WINNING CONSISTANTLY, WINNING!!!! |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
I was there yesterday as I am most home games and it was very loud yesterday. FedEx will get louder and louder as the product on the field gets better. Can't just blame the fans and the stadium...fans need something to cheer about. RFK would not have been as loud if the Redskins lost every week there.

I agree completely on the cheering at the wrong times. people should be sitting quiet while the skins are on offense and standing yelling while on defense. We got these RG3 chants going on while we are trying to call a play at the line of scrimmage. Rediculous. Soon as the team gets back in the huddle those RG3 chants need to stop. |

|
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
A curved roof does help. However, winning consistently helps even more.
|
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
I believe it is the Acoustics.
I've had season tix for 10+ years and people people are screaming their heads off most games. Don't know how much funnels up and out of the stadium compared to reflecting back down to the field. |

That's the best way to get rid of the cheers from the opposing fans. Ultimately it will make our stadium LOUDER! ----- ScoreBig.com |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
The home opener felt pretty loud when I attended. Specifically in the standing room in the 400's. People (me included) were banging on the metal rails(?) that separate each row. I felt like the fan noise actually caused the Bengals quite a few issues.

The season opener was in New Orleans as we played the Saints. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
Meant to say home opener
|
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
if danny puts in the tent like he offered in his super bowl hosting bid, it'd be a lot louder. the way it's currently built, it's basically an open air stadium, and all those dream seat/expensive sections are the ones closest to the field, so unless the CEOs and corporate lawyers decide to go nuts, the team just isn't going to be hearing dome level noise any time soon.

Making tickets cheaper wont keep the people already attending games from going. |
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
i live in AZ and Cardinals' games have been loud as sh** in the past especially during Kurt Warners swan song .. that playoff run was the loudest I can remember stadium and it's only 55,000. HOWEVER I fly back home to DC almost every season and did so at the home opener this year. That place was blowing up pre-game and loud as hell so I have to disagree, it's simply a matter of winning. They win, FED EX will rock. You can't complain you have a quiet stadium when you lose 8 in a row. Win games, RG3, Defense things will get rowdy and I love it.
|
Re: London Fletcher - "Fans, be louder"
i hardly ever sit down, or am not screaming or banging on chairs or stomping... and alot of the 400's are like that... cuz i cant afford lower level and under the overhang sucks... go to about 3 games a year or as much as possible.... but i do agree with london sometimes.... cuz during tv timeouts the opposing offense is all huddled up plotting the play and the fans are near silent.... it sucks.
