Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
Washington Post
I posted this in the Part Trios thread, but I though this may deserve its own thread. I'd like to hear what you guys think as it pertains to both Mike Wise's as well as Donovan McNabb's advice for III and II. I completely understand why III and his camp did not contact McNabb after he tried to get in touch with him last year. Why would you call someone who throws your coach under the bus and says he will be the reason why you fail? Then why would you call him now after he airs out his opinions on how you are handling your life this offseason in the local paper? McNabb to me does not come off as genuine. He is just getting his name in the papers again. If he was genuine he would not have sat down in an interview to voice to him why he should have called him. He could have sent him an email not a public invitation. |
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
I used to have a lot of respect for McNabb.

I really hate mike wise

Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
I feel that McNabb comes off as genuine in the article, that he honestly cares and is trying to be a friend, but again, as others have stated, this needed to be done behind closed doors and not on a national scene. Somehow McNabb could have tracked down RG3, who i'm sure would have been receptive to meeting him....
|
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
McNabb is a fraud and definitely not the type of person I'd want in RG3's ear.
|
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
bottom line ... RGIII has his head screwed on right. He's got solid, grounded parents. He'll be fine.
|
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
J. Keim cannot get to the Post fast enough. He will upgrade their content 1000%.

Yeah and obviously he's not perfect, nobody is. But overall he's heading in the right direction. He doesn't need a bum like McNabb giving him advice on how to handle things. |
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
McFlabb needs to stfu and go away.
I fail to see how he needs to get involved with anything regarding RGIII. And Mike Wise is an effing tool. |
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
As soon as I saw the article today in the Post I read "McNabb" "advice" and "By: Mike Wise" and immediately went to read about the NBA.

Hahahahaaa. But seriously what a poisonous article this was. He bashes his old coach while trying to get the team's new QB to listen to his advice.... Like that would go over well at Redskins Park and with the fan base. Take advice from the QB who was awful here and refused to work with the coaches. |
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
Mike Wise makes Greg Doyel look like Mike Wallace. Had no clue trolls could be journalist.
McNabb character is more disappointing than his actual skill on the field. |

Pretty much sums it up. I will add that Mike Wise is horrible. This moron continues to grasp at straws and instigates the public to drum up any type of attention. **** this assclown. |

Being a part of the story was pioneered by Hunter S Thompson, he named the genre Gonzo journalism. It's cool for different kind of stuff, but it doesn't work in today's NFL. It is also not effective in a story that was done based on an interview format. Wise needs to keep his head down regarding III and his recovery. He certainly shouldn't be aligning himself with DM. |
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
I don't get what the deal with Wise is. I feel like he didn't used to be such a douche. It's like he learned on his radio show how to say stuff just for attention. He'd fit right in at the four letter on one of their craptastic who can yell the loudest opinion shows meant for bumbling fools.
|
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
And Rich Campbell...where did his idiocy come from all of a sudden? He thinks McNabb earned enough respect to have his opinions valued. Not around here he didn't. He's an immature petulant egoist that even Philly finally figured out and shipped off.

I was thinking the same thing. I used to watch (well, still do until the season ended) the NBC4 Redskin show with Dan Hellie that has Jason Reid, Doc Walker and Mike Wise. I used to respect Mike Wise on that show. He was never being annoying and obnoxious as he is today about the whole name debate. Now its like there some high powered person who is paying Mike Wise lots of money to use him as his voice to get out his opinion on why the skins should change their name, without giving out his identity (much like Guy Pearce with Ben Kingsley's character in Iron Man 3; man that was a not good movie..) |
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
Its too bad, but what McNabb doesn't understand is that we love RGIII and are concerned about him. In Philly, McNabb never knew that love.

Hell, throw all of ESPN in there. Unfortunately this stuff sells, I say that as someone who likes Mike and Mike(Golic). Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
@MikeWiseguy @john_keim @RGIII Don't repeat this trash. The fact any DC reporter gives a EFF what McNugget has to say is laughable.
Mike Wise Mike Wise @MikeWiseguy @NC_Skins23 Hi. This is Mike's automated Twitter response to inform you you've been blocked for eternity. Aloha. I guess Mike think it's a punishment blocking you from his account...lol What a tool bag. He's a critic, that can't take criticism. |
Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
Seeing how Mike Wise is so offended by our team's name, why is he writing about us.....?
Wise should fire himself, if he actually believed any of his own tripe. |

I particularly liked this quote
It’s not altogether surprising that Washington Post columnist Mike Wise went to McNabb to ask his opinion on the Redskins signal caller; it’s not like Wise is going to get a legitimate interview with RGIII any time soon
Mike has blackballed himself right out of any chance of interviewing RGIII. Speaking of that douche bag, not sure if you knew he did this the other week. Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
McNabb has become unbearable since leaving Washington. I don't know if I'm bias because of how things ended with him here but I just can't stand him.
It was bad enough that he failed when he was here in DC, but now that he's working for NFL Network I've lost one of my favorite shows in NFC playbook. Whats next Donny? Are you going to get a regular role on The Big Bang Theory? Ruin that show for me too? |

The fact Wise responded indicates he's hearing the fans feedback of the garbage he puts out. Wise has never been good, I mean never. Easy-to-predict media type who cut from the same type of garbage cloth that's made sports media in the last 10 years turn to absolute crap. On the other hand, the Clyburn article at HTTR24-7 is one of the best I read in years. Insightful, honest and backed by fact; this is what sports media lacks today. Not outlandish "corn ball brother" hyperbole where the people reporting really want the story to be about them. |
Mcnabb is just jealous of Griffin, it's so obvious, he wanted to be a star in Washington and then after he sucked he blamed coaching. Bum

Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
Why does RGIII need to force friends? I think his family will take care of him just like they have all through the years.
To many ppl want contact with RGIII. Stick with who he has known since childhood. They seem to have done a great job so far. |

15 million viewers on average for the most recent season disagree. :D Okay well lets see what else McNabb could do that everyone can agree on...... McNabb signs with ESPN to be an anchor on Sportscenter. After which he joins SVP and Russilo changing the shows name to McNabb and two other white guys. |

Re: Donovan McNabb's comments in the Washington Post
I don't get the hate for NcNabb at all. It says more about the low character of those making negative comments about him than anything else per se. He was highly respected by coaches and players for nearly his entire career. He came to Washington on the decline, didn't fit the system and didn't get along with Mike Shanahan. When you look at the two men, Mike's had "interpersonal issues" with far more players and coaches than McNabb ever did. Mike doesn't seem to get along with a lot of people, going through D coordinators in Denver like crazy and having past players dislike him strongly.
That said, it's not really clear what McNabb has in mind to say to RG3?? If it's about protecting himself from being a runner, I think RG2's comments got the point across. If it's about RG3 focusing on leadership over stardom, McNabb might be able to lend some wisdom. It's a valid concern. RG3 needs to spend as much time with his teammates as possible, hard to do that when you're jet-setting to celeb events everywhere. |

RG3 needs to spend as much time with his teammates as possible, hard to do that when you're jet-setting to celeb events everywhere.
When you show up in a new town and pretty much tell every single person on the team that you have no intention of working for a common goal, that pretty much tells me all I need to know about him. The one person who respected him, Andy Reid, traded him within the division. Which in sports, is one of the biggest shows of disrespect that one can get. No way he comes to Washington if Reid thinks there is something left in the tank. He was sent from Philly with almost everyone of his team mates and an entire city not even caring enough to say goodbye. They all said good riddens. He then took that hatred to the TV side of things only to have to backtrack on pretty much everything he said. But when he backtracked, he acted like he was always right to begin with, and took more shots that werent necessary. Tom Coughlin, they wanted him gone, players hated him. 2 SB's later, hes a lovely guy. Same with Bill Parcells. Every coach that is deemed a disciplinarian has the same things said about them. Players hate them until they win the big one, and then players say they are great coaches. You put a ring on someones finger, and the things said tend to different. Whether I have high character or low character or intermediate character or any other form of character or non character doesnt change the fact that McNabb is a tool and a cancer that doesnt need to be associated with RG3. If McNabb wants to talk about leadership, unless he is talking to a 5 year old, he would be on the receiving end of it, not giving the advice. |
