Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATV13gzocN0
Love this pick, good spell to Morris, goodbye Royster, and he can return kicks. Don't know if he will. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Great pick. Roy Helu is a solid 3rd down option, but this guy can be a little something more, methinks. Chris Thompson is a great option too, but can't stay healthy. I wonder what this means for Evan Royster...
|
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
I think Seastrunk can push for the primary backup spot, and Helu is a good 3rd down RB as well. I think Royster is gone. Seastrunk has better vision, speed, and elusiveness than Helu. Only thing he doesn't have is the hands.

Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
apparently he is a bad blocker, and receiver...... 9 receptions, and 10 drops
I still like the pick |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Not a fan of this pick at all. So many other needs....

I seem to remember people saying this about Alfred Morris as well. |

6th rounder, good value if he can catch. CThompson still has a shot as well. I'm fine w this and will wait to see how he does. This may be diff than AMorris pick, since Shanny just has a knack for picking RBs, Gruden/BA haven't proven that yet. But I like the pick, we'll see. |

LOL. I recently went back and read the 2012 draft thread where the late round picks were being discussed. There was some speedy RB that everyone was clamoring for in the 6th, and when Morris was picked instead, there was a small uproar. Look how that turned out. Morris is one of the league's elite backs, and that other scrub hasn't done crap. Edit: "that other scrub" = Chris Polk. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Very flawed player but such a great value in the 6th round. Has to improve in the passing game before he can get on the field. Doubt we see a ton of him this season. But he can run away from safeties and I can't remember the last Redskins RB that could do that. '05 Portis, maybe?

Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
They dont teach that stuff at Baylor.
Coach him up Jay. He could be the next Kelvin Bryant. |
I have to say, given other needs, I wouldn't have sought this out, but watching his highlights, this kid is always looking for daylight. Daylight might end up being a good nickname for him - he has wheels and enough juice to make guys miss tackles. Looking forward to seeing him compete.

Welcome to the Skins Seabiscuit.
|
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
I saw on the draft reports that his agility was considered top tier but I was blown away watching his highlights.

Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Was he a return man in college?
|
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
his highlights are great...just hoping we can schedule Kansas & Louisianna-Monroe next year.
(I tease, I tease) he does look like a game breaker and he's patient to let his blocks set up. Good speed, vision and patience....I like him a lot and I think this does spell the end of Royster as well. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
The highlights show just how nasty he is when he see's a hole his gone. He has speed and wiggle like the great Barry Sanders. Now with that said he will be facing better defenses in the NFL. But this was a good value pick for insurance for Alfred Morris.

Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Just some random facts. Averaged over 7 ypc last 2 seasons while rushing for over a 1,000 yards each time. Also transferred to Baylor from Oregon so the athleticism makes sense.

I rank acquiring friends/former teammates of key players a little bit under the taboo of drafting relatives of key players, with exceptions for players like the Pouncey brothers or maybe if you had a chance to get Clay and Jake Matthews. Lest of course one doesn't care to learn from Prop Joe's mistakes. Mainly because if they're a long shot to make the roster and you cut their friend/brother/cousin, basically it feels like more risk then reward. No doubt Seastrunk has more then enough talent to make the team on his own merrits but it just feels like unnecessary pressure. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Re: the "needs" argument against this pick.
In the 6th you aren't drafting players of any specific need. Other than for special teams you're drafting bpa. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
And wow he is pads fast
|
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
if players didn't have flaws, they wouldn't be undrafted by the 5th/6th/7th round. he's definitely got some speed. hopefully we can find a way to use it.
|
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
I am sure he has flaws but to be fair if this was 10 years ago he probably goes rd 2 or 3. The position is that devalued

Very true. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Rather get Seastrunk than overpaid Sproles and given a draft pick away. We got someone similar. The reason he didnt catch balls at baylor is because they dont throw to their rb. So people saying he cant catch is incorrect.
|
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Talent is what you need. We have upgraded our team speed like a mofo!!! We are building throuhg the draft.

I think I read somewhere they threw a total of ten times to backs last year. |

Personally my main focus right now is getting his named changed to Leon Sandcastle so I can stop getting his name wrong. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
I keep thinking this guy's name is "Leche" (Spanish word for milk). LOL.

See no one can get his freaking name right. I think thats grounds to cut him. Alright coaches now we need to figure out who to cut. Its down to La...Lasci....Milk Sandcastle and Jim Smith. Sandcastle averaged 15 ypc on 34 carriers in the preseason while Smith got -2.4 ypc not including the -99 yard play where he ran the ball the wrong way resulting in a safety. He was also snorting blow on the sideline. So who do we keep? Coaches: Smith! |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Lache pronounced Lake.

Is that a bad thing? Ervins was a solid contributor to a Super Bowl winning team. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Seastrunk just signed a 4 year $2.3 million dollar contract
$110,000. signing bonus |
Was he a return man in college?
He wasn't but doesn't mean he couldn't. He has the agility for it. I look at him the way I look at Gio Bernard, although he is a lot faster than Gio is. But I think that is how Gruden will want to use him. |
Re: Pick 186 Lache Seastrunk
Seastrunk said on ESPN 980 true time is 4.34
