Around the NFL week 1

It's here folks. Week 1! Enjoy it because we all know it'll go by fast.

Zeke will play Sunday according to ESPN, but will be suspended weeks 2-7 . That means he'll miss our game.

Zeke is cleared for week 1, but the TRO ruling isn't until Friday. If it's granted, then he might play the whole season until his case is heard.

Harold Henderson handled Elliott's appeal for the NFL, and after some time ruled that Elliott would get no reduction from the six-game suspension. The league suspended the second-year running back after a series of alleged domestic violence incidents, though multiple reports say the evidence was compromised throughout the process.

Since the suspension came after Tuesday at 4 p.m., the deadline for such moves, the suspension can not take place until Week 2. Elliott has filed for a temporary restraining order (TRO) to stop the suspension until it winds its way through the courts. A Texas judge is scheduled to rule on that by Friday. If the TRO is granted, Elliott could well play the entire season while the process plays out. Should the TRO be denied, Elliott's suspension would run for Weeks 2-7. That would make the final game of the suspension October 29 against the Redskins.

I believe the TRO will be granted. And that this will become the way of all NFL suspensions.

I doubt it will happen, since the ruling in the Brady court case basically upholds the procedures that the NFL has for discipline.

While I don't knock the NFLPA for defending Elliott, I believe they are doing the players a huge disservice by making player discipline a huge deal.

When time comes to re-negotiate the CBA, player discipline is going to be another bargaining chip that the NFL can use to get their way in financial matters.

If I'm an NFL player, I would be more interested in having team concessions in the CBA that offer a better financial outcome to the player. Right now there are rules in place, which discourage teams from spending money and NFL contracts are always team friendly.

As long as he's not successful in getting a stay in federal court, or something.

36 hours away from kickoff.

Chiefs (+9) v Pats at 8:30 o/u 48.5

Chiefs GM thinks they have a SB winning roster .... I dont see it. I see a tough season ahead for the Chiefs.

Just heard this morning Josh LeRibeus is the starting center in New Orleans, so either we did not see his potential and missed an opportunity or they are absolutely desperate. (Max Unger is their third string)

I'd go with desperate

Yeah New Orleans is not known for having a tremendous line. LeRib's liabilities in pass protection work OK there though because Brees gets rid of the ball so quickly.

Now I want a McRib.

Re: Around the NFL week 1

Dolphins v Bucs game moved to their mutual bye week of week 11.

Obviously the human aspect, category 5 cane, etc is the top priority and this is just a game. With that said, this is a football forum .. man that sucks for the Phins and Bucs.

It helps us to a degree in that Bucs are a competitive team to take one of the WC spots, if they dont take the NFC South title.

Hard Rock Stadium had about $500 million in renovations over the past two years, much of which went toward reinforcing the stadium to withstand a Category 4 hurricane.

The Phins stadium might not be playable but there first home game isnt until Oct 1st v Saints, so thats helpful. I doubt that stadium or area would be able to host a game week 2.

Love the quote by Kevin Seifert of ESPN. He said it's proven you can beat Brady if you can get pressure on him. So what are the Chiefs doing on the regular this game? Rushing 3 and dropping 8 lol. Fair heads up, I'm going by the score on this one because I work until 10:30 every night. So if I'm wrong, tell me now. But going off past history I do think the best way to try and beat the Pats is by getting pressure on Brady.

The talking heads, so called experts....they are so phony and full of shit. I love it too.

In Richmond we now have Colin cowherd on sports radio...he is by far and away the worst sports radio guy I've ever heard, he makes rich eisen sound entertaining....all he's talked about this week is how the patriots were the goat this year and will go 16-0. I hope that bitch watched last night.

His metaphors of real life events of the regular guy comparisons to the sports world/successful athletes life are by far and away the stupidest shit I've ever heard.

And his original, "hot takes" that "nobody is talking about" angles, point of view...they make zero sense, he just throws bullshit against the wall.

He is a fucking moron. I'm so pissed he got added like 6 months ago. It's terrible

15 games left for KC ... but man, i thought they would be on the decline after a decent run of successful seasons.

Gotta tip your hat to FF and his coordinators. Steady, solid, well coached team year after year.

As a hater of all things Boston, I couldnt watch that pre game crap. That was unwatchable for anyone not a NE fan.

In a Division that has the Jets and the Bills both fighting for last place(in the league) and the Dolphins who have some major injury problems right now.

Reid has been a great coach and a genius on offense. He made mcnabb look great for years, who was not a very accurate passer at all

I'm more impressed with what he got out of a scrub like Foles in 2013. But yeah, he's always been great at maximizing his QB's abilities.

Chico23231 09-09-2017 10:54 AM

Re: Around the NFL week 1

After watching the pats game, I'm not concerned about Brady or the offense....but they are lacking a pass rusher. They will be working the phones and free agents this week. Alex smith is not a great passer and he shredded them because he had time to wind up and toss. Talk about a slow wind up...watch him struggle to go 15 yards down the field.

In the "well that was fast" category, Colts waive Matt Jones per Adam Caplan.

Given that the Colts are thin at RB, this is a pretty much a death sentence on Jones' NFL career.
