Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

Kliff parted ways, and Joe Whitt jr fired

Let’s go!

Wow. Whitt is not a surprise at all, but I am surprised at KK< despite the recent reports. I hope they have plans (or at least top candidates) for successors.

Re: Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

Who are the best candidates to replace them? We're not likely to attract someone with HC credentials or current coordinators that are likely in line for a HC job, so it's most likely guys already available. Who's your candidate shortlist?

Bye felicia!

Better hope we get good replacements or we're (Dan Quinn especially) fucked.

Keim saying they will likely look outside to hire new OC. Not 100% sure but likely.

Found that interesting as they have some experience on staff.

I think Peters wants Kyle - style offense he saw in SF. Under center, zone run, play action boots. I’d prefer that as well

Well, if so, then expect Dart, who doesn't seem to consider self-preservation important, to be hurt for the rest of his career. I like KK and think his offense can be intriguing, but it does put the QB at risk.

He would be good for Dart

They fired the OL coach Bobby Johnson too.

Re: Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

Don’t have a big problem with KK moving on, I’m guessing they want an offense with more ball control/TOP that won’t leave so much on the defense. I thought for the most part he did a good job here, certainly can’t argue with the results last year, even this year they were middle of the pack despite all the injuries. I wish him well.

Re: Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

While i am a bit surprised it actually happened, i am ecstatic we are moving away from Kingsbury!!! I just think we need someone to protect JD5 a bit more and to run (with RB's, not QB's) a bit more! Get under center a bit more!! Some play action would be nice and JD5 will benefit greatly from it! Get someone from the Shanahan tree! There was not much surprise from KK's offense. The quick tempo, no huddle was nice, when things were clicking. Not so much when things were going poorly.

Whitt too, obviously!!! But that was a no brainer and already written down!

Leaks starting to come out front office meddling in coaching decisions about personnel playing on the field

Not good, that’s Snyder territory

DQ isn’t long for this team. Think last year’s surprise, covered more than we thought.

I’m guessing the leaks are the guys on the way out.

AP wanted to play the young guys, sounds like a typical front office view. Judging by how much the vets played there wasn’t any real meddling going on.

AnonEmouse 01-07-2026 07:09 PM

Re: Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

And it could be press guys exaggerating or inventing a story. I can't see AP letting that stuff out and it doesn't do anything for DQ or KK. Likely enough an invention or someone with an axe to grind bullshitting.

Are we going to let David Blough walk out the door too?

We seem to have a history here of rising offensive minds leave

I’d bet he’ll interview for the OC job, they’re pretty high on him

My concern is he was a KK dude apparently. We will see, I know nothing of the dude philosophy and how it works here, but people who do know say he’s impressive

Does DQ have the patience for a first time OC? Maybe Peters thinks he does

Per ESPN's Todd Archer, we interviewed Cowboys' TE coach Lunda Wells for OC position recently.

Easier said than done, he’s going to have his pick of OC jobs and will probably also have some HC interviews lined up.

AnonEmouse 01-09-2026 11:39 AM

Re: Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

Pick of OC jobs? definitely. HC interviews? probably. HC jobs? I actually doubt it as I think he may better serve himself by not getting straight back on that horse.

MTK 01-09-2026 11:59 AM

Re: Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

Basic point is there’s a lot of competition for him. I know he has some ties to DQ but it may not be enough to get him here. The Detroit OC job would be very tempting. I’m keeping my hopes low with him coming here.

It is interesting that Blough, who was also being considered for the Detroit OC job, stayed put. I might have expected the McDaniel ties to DQ to win out over the fact that Blough is in the building. I wouldn't be shocked to see McDaniel in Detroit, and running that offense could be scary.

Re: Both Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Gone!

I think teh Blough signing was as much pre-empting Detroit getting their hands on him as him being the top candidate. I'd be surprised if Quinn hadn't spoken to McDaniels, but he probably said he was still wanting a HC job and Quinn knew he might lose both of them if he didn't make a quick decision. Right decision? We'll know next a season. Right now I'm cautiously optimistic. But if we don't sign a quality DC...
