Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
The guy came in and played pretty well. My hat's off to Patrick! I still believe Brunell is our guy, but this win gives me a little more confidence in Patrick Ramsey.
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
:biggthump Agree. Thank God it wasnt like last time he joined a Giants game!
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
I agree. As much as I love the guy, I was one who got very worried when he came into the game. He played very well and did a good job rallying the team.
GOOD JOB, PAT! |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
I was extremely nervous. At that point, the Giants were stopping our running game, and things just seemed to be going for New York, but as soon as Ramsey threw that TD pass, I felt much better. :-)
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Great job in back-up and an excellent example of Redskins spirit on the interview.
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
great job by ramsey, i definitely had major doubts when i saw him in the game before he threw the td pass. I do hope that brunell is starting next week though, i feel that Philly will be the essential trap game, and we have a better shot of winning with brunell in there.

Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
At the cowboys game as everyone left i got to move down right behind the redskins bench and i thought it was awsome that the only person on the field i could hear was patrick going woooooo, and slapping people and running away. This was with like 5 minutes to go. He is a true redskin. to bad it didn't work out for him here.
he has played in the last 4 giants game even though he has only started 1 |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Patrick is such a gamer and a real Redskin. He's stuck with the franchise through thick and thin and deserved what he got today. I LOVED how pissed he was on the second timeout, when the play was designed for Antonio Brown and Brown was out of position. Good call and good eye by Patrick to get the TO.
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Mad props to Pat...some say it was a bad pass and Santana is just a good wideout. Some say it was an excellent pass.....I SAY IT WAS 7 points!!!!
Hats off to you Pat.....you deserve credit as far as I am concerned!!! Let the haters, hate! |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Ramsey showed a lot of maturity today. When he came in all he was asked to do was manage the game-put the ball in Portis' hands and let the defense do their thing. He's so competitive that in the past he's wanted to take the game into his own hands and go away from the game plan and that's when he starts forcing things. Today he really showed that he's learned a lot....and nice pass to Moss!
I'm with skinsguy, I think Brunell is the better choice when both are healthy. But I was very pleased with Ramsey. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
This is why I was so happy we didnt trade Pat when the Jets wanted him. You often need two QBs to win in this league, and he did it for us today.
Great job Ramsey! I hope you are with us next year, and if not I wish you all the best! (Unless you play us of course...) |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Hats Off To Patrick He Did Good Today.merry X-mas To All,and Lets Pray We Will Not Have Anymore Injuries And Those Who Are Banged Up Will Be Able To Go.lets Kick The Eagles Ass And Go To The Playoffs.god Bless Joe Gibbs He Is The Man And Some Love Goes Out To Greg Williams He Is Doing A Excellent Job.

Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
I hope everything works out for him, I've always like Patrick Ramsey and today he showed everyone why. The kid has heart and he's a class act.
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
I was really nervous when he came in, especially after he had to call timeout when guys weren't getting lined up correctly (not that it was necessarily his fault).
Overall a solid job in relief, a little shaky on the snaps at times but that's to be expected. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Patrick Ramsey has been and always will be a class act. He's taken his demotion without mouthing off to the press, as many players would have. And, he got his chance to redeem himself and came through like a champ. He deserves all the credit he's getting. If Brunell can't play next week, I have no concerns with Ramsey being the starter.
Wouldn't it be ironic if he was our QB in the playoffs? |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Ramsey looked crisp he made quick decisions... i didnt see any underthrows he played well.... he didnt look (BRAIN DEAD) like most of you said and he hasn't even worked with the 1st team.... i am not saying brunell should start next week. he wasn't all that today even the big td was severly underthrown and he threw a (BRAIN DEAD INT) .... i knew he could play and he played well... you guys have ur opinion but i wanna see Ramsey take us into the playoffs.. OH HERE IT COMES I AM DUCKING let me have it...lol
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
He showed he's a legitimate NFL QB. This should help his trade value.

Whooa Nelly, let's not get ahead of ourselves..railcon56! Patrick looked good but let us not forget Brunnell HAS been getting it done..let's not be so quick to throw him under the bus. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
lol i have never been on his bandwagon.... he has played well at times but since everyone here was saying that wanted brunell to start.. i wanted to add i didn't... there are just certain throws he cant make......

Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
thats why i was wrong i give gibbs credit.. he held onto Ramsey ..and when it has counted he has clearly out coached Parcell and Coughlin.... AND i still dont understand the Lavar thing but GreG Williams is Aweome he is a genius i was wrong about him!!! I will freely admit that... now i dont wanna lose him ... so i am a stand up man and can admit when i was wrong...

LOL! What is the fascination with Patrick Ramsey? I just want this team to go to the playoffs, I don't care who is behind center. Heck, if Jason Campbell comes in and plays like a superstar, fine with me. I'm a Redskins fan first and foremost. I cheer for anybody who lines up behind center. It's a team effort. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
hats off to ramsey for steppin and steppin up when called on.early prognosis on brunel is that he has a strained knee ligament and we will find out more tom according to nfl primetime.and yes brunel gives us the best shot going to philly but if ramsey has to start do it the sameway you did when you came in today.
good job by all. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Who knows, maybe Ramsey will have a career game and possibly be the starter next year until Jason's ready. I still think Brunell should start but we should wait until he's 100%.
But Ramsey looked fine today. Did the checklist, put touch on his passes and threw it away if he didn't have anything open. Maybe he learned a lot from Brunell by just sitting on the sidelines and watching him. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
hopefully this injury doesnt effect brunell like his hamstring did last year...if that was really why he was bad...i just hope ramsey can step up if brunell has to miss any more time

Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
He played like a man who had something to prove and showcased his skills. Mabye this was an audition game to showcase his skills?
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
ramsey played ok but he looked nervous as hell until he unloaded that td pass.will someone show mr brown where to line up when he plays wide receiver?i dont think he got back onto the field after screwing that up

Let's not count him out of the QB competition for next season just yet. Gibbs loves QB depth, so unless someone wows us with a trade offer I won't be surprised to see Ramsey back with us again next year. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
I was nervous as others when he had to come into the game and he played well but please dear god don't have this turn into another freakin qb swtich thread. He looked good, all be it with happy feet, while throwing 7 PASSES!! It's hard to look too bad when u throw it as small an amount as that and take away the great adjustment and grab by Moss and Ramsey had 32 yards on four completetions. I'll cheer my heart out for whomever is our qb but Brunnel has been the one directing our passing game all season and I know I'm personally tired of the fickleness of switching players especially this late into the season when a team is on a roll. Next week better consist of a bunch of Portis/Betts/Cartwright runs and some PA passes to Moss, Cooley, and a player who has played extremely well since his breakdown a few games back in Robert Royal. Man am I glad they didn't cut him like a lot of people, myself included, wanted cuz he's made some big plays catching and running as well as blocking.

Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
I think if Brunell is healthy and good to go this week it's not even a question... he's the man.
If not, it's good to know Ramsey is ready to step in and do a quality job. I liked the way he dumped it off quickly and made good decisions... he seemed to have learned a thing or two playing behind Brunell this year. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Ramesey's reaction time was very good. He definitely looked comfortable in the pocket.
|
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
He's pretty cheap right? Anyone know what his cap number is next year? Its gotta be comparable to a top flight backup.
|

Absolutly! This time he wasen't 3 scores down, big difference. |

Any QB has to manage a game, it was Ramseys arm that opened things back up for us, not Portis's legs, it was his playmaking ability that kept the Giants in the rearview, pass to betts, then Moss. That Giant defense today recieved a heavy dose of old school Gibbs football, Portis was ripping off runs at 10 a clip in the 4th quarter because we beat them down all game, as good as that defense is, and they are very good, they were done by the 4th quarter, you could see it in their faces after the first drive of the game they knew they were in trouble. Pretty nice offensive display considering I believe that Moss is the only WR to catch a pass? Kudos to Ramsey, that's no easy task to sit the bench all season to come into a game of that magnitude and perform as he did against a very good D, not that I had any doubts, he would have been doing it all year with playing time, I was very excited to see Ramsey come in, I was very glad that Gibbs didn't go into an offensive conservative shell once Ramsey came on. One thing I noticed about Ramsey is the confidence he seems to have to know the offense, he does not look intimidated at all, great job! I still think this is Brunells season, and if healthy he should, and will finish it, but today was only a glimpse of what Patrick has in store for some team next year, I would really hope it's us who are the benefactors. |
Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Yea Patrick did really good this weekend, but like people have said he did not throw that much and he also came into the game not down by three scores. Nevertheless, that was a critical point in the game that everyone was worried about, and we all know we thought he might turn it over. But he didn't and he came through. I think if Brunell is alright, then we definately go back to him bc he is the starter. As for his injury, an MCL sprain can vary depending on its severity. So basically it could be something that takes a couple days to get over, or maybe more, we have to wait until later to find out.

Re: Give it up for Patrick Ramsey
Great job Ramsey by not losing it after having to call those 2 TOs. Have to admit I was worried. But kudoz to the coaching staff by having him throw the ball to Moss. It is obvious that he's learned alot watching Brunell, Gibbs, Buges and Breaux. Think he gets it now. The importance of not turning the ball over, not forcing plays and not holding the ball too long. He finished with a 153.3% QB rating, ofcourse only played less than a half, but by no means would that game have been over if he'd have thrown a pick, fumbled or taken a sack. Ramsey entered the game at a very crucial point of the game and succeeded. Let us not forget the 87 season when Jay Shroeder and Doug Williams combined to bring us our 2nd superbowl victory! You can never have too many quality QB's in the NFL. Now more than ever before! Saw a stat yesterday was like 78 QB's have played and 59 started this season. There's 32 teams. Good job Ramsey and get well soon Brunell!
