Which, of course, is the other side of the coin when you sign strong contributors for not a lot of cash, is that it's easy to get away from if they disappoint, and move on with the rest of the team.
I think the Clemons signing was a good one, both by Oakland last year off the scrap heap, and Philly this year, but the ability to get away from a player who was thought to make a contribution, but appears unable to do so, is a trait found in winning football teams.
Last year we had to make a similar decision (though not due to injury) with Lemar Marshall and Randall Godfrey, and simply, we likely would have missed the playoffs without Randall Godfrey. Our FO made a good call, one that probably put our defense over the top.
