You can look at the diagram i posted it explains why Smoot was supposed to have deep coverage when playing Cover 4.

Smoot played that second double move badly. He might as well be on the sidelines for that play, but.....
Landry's primary responsibility in that cover four was the exact deep quarter of the field that the pass was completed into. He completely failed on his basic number one responsibility. The analyst mentions that the crossing pattern was Landry's responsibilty, but it was not his
first responsibilty in the cover four.
