Re: Landry is now a bust!
QBs used to cringe when they see him slip through the crease at full speed... LOL!!!

After watching the video your response is to say that Mike Mayock is wrong? You can look at the diagram i posted it explains why Smoot was supposed to have deep coverage when playing Cover 4. No offense, but i think you guys are wrong and are blaming Landry because you don't understand the scheme. Maybe this video will help: NFL Videos: WK 13 Anatomy: Brees bombs away |

Landry's primary responsibility in that cover four was the exact deep quarter of the field that the pass was completed into. He completely failed on his basic number one responsibility. The analyst mentions that the crossing pattern was Landry's responsibilty, but it was not his first responsibilty in the cover four. |

Not directly related to Landry, but an interesting read on Tackling in the NFL.
NFL: Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson is among the many coaches, players and GMs who lament -- or in AD's case celebrate -- the lost art of tackling - ESPN |

Re: Landry is now a bust!
Nice article C. If Landry would learn to take the right angle and "wrap up" instead of launching his body he wouldn't miss so many. Someone needs to spend time with him the way Singletary has spent time with Willis and Ray Lewis.

Re: Landry is now a bust!
I have avoided this thread because I think it's stupid to think we would cut or trade Landry, but I read the article today:
Redskins scapegoat: Kicker goes, safety stays - nfl - SI.com and it pisses me off to see a kicker who was 18 for 21 get discarded like he was a bad piece of candy and have a Safety who whiffed on two plays causing 14 points to be put up on the board simply shrug it off with "I'm just trying to make a play and he ran a good route,'' Landry said Wednesday. "Good game plan, man. They've got great coaches and they watch tape, too. The offensive coordinator dialed up a good play.'' Asked about learning from such mistakes, Landry shrugged and said: "I'll still play my game.'' Read more: Redskins scapegoat: Kicker goes, safety stays - nfl - SI.com Get a free NFL Team Jacket and Tee with SI Subscription Landry we don't want you to continue to play "your game" we want you to fix your F-ing mistake and not make it again. Learn from your mistake. Stop making the same F-ing mistake. Here's our second problem, a comment made by Carlos: "I can't determine who they play or when they're benched or whatever their reason is behind it,'' Rogers said. "I'm out there now, so I ain't going to worry about it.'' Read more: Redskins scapegoat: Kicker goes, safety stays - nfl - SI.com Get a free NFL Team Jacket and Tee with SI Subscription I understan you can't control who the coach's bench or who they play but you can control your mistakes and not get benched due to them. He sounds like he's saying "I have no idea what the hell the coach's are doing to why they do is. All I can do is play my game and not worry about it." Again, it's about learning from your F-ing mistakes. I think what pisses me off is they act like they don't care. Oh well, I'm going to continue to do the same stupid shit cause I have no clue as to why I got benched. I think this is why so many of us are upset at the fact there is no accountability. They act like kids who got punished and have no clue as to why they were punished. So they definitly will continue with making their mistakes. Yet a kicker (who I know is not the best in the league and was only a stop gap a few years ago and won the job this year cause other could not beat him out) who is 18 of 21 gets cut. At least the kicker had sense enough to know his play was bad and was upset by it knowing he might get the axe. The others are like Oh F-ing Well lets move on to the next game so I can do the same stupid shit cause it's not like the team will cut me. |

Best Tackler in the NFL - ESPN Video - ESPN And from Scouts Inc: Fletcher is a model of consistency year after year and very well could be having the best season of his career. A precise form tackler, Fletcher consistently gets his man on the ground and is exceptional at hitting on the rise, wrapping and driving his feet on contact. And from USA Football/NFLPA Ryan Clady selected to USA Football/NFLPA 'All-Fundamentals'*Team - Mile High Report (scroll down) Basically....London Fletcher for player/coach!

This team needs 8 additional London Fletchers.

I think it's interesting how Gray explained; I still don't see it as an excuse..

Re: Landry is now a bust!
Or that there are reasonable replacements at other positions. Fred Smoot played decent while Rogers was on the bench. They clearly don't think Moore can come in and be effective if he hasn't at least taken over a series. IMO, they need to start Moore and see what Landry can do at SS because it doesn't seem like FS is working out.
