I agree he is a bum, but I do not disagree with him. I don't think we are in the same class as Seattle or AZ. We are one more year away from being a legitimate challenger. I' sure we all agree Dallas is one injury away from being the NFC East dumpster fire.

Kind of lame he mentions Dallas in the same breath as Seattle or Arizona. I know they are the media sweethearts, and they'll be improved when Romo gets back, but they aren't anywhere close to being a Super Bowl contender.

Well, two potential long term starters - Breeland & Moses.

One rotational starter, likely long term back-up - Murphy

One long term OL player with potential to be long time starter - Long

One spot player, ST body - Grant

Long may well end up starting at center next year. Grant, I think, will be gone. Liked him but not seeing any real development.

If we get 2/3 starters out of a draft and a fourth who is a solid, reliable, if unspectacular back up, with no first round pick, that's a good solid draft. All it lacks is an "impact" player. We simply do not have enough of those on the defensive side of the ball. If we find one or two of those in the next two or three drafts, we will need drafts like this to maintain.

I don't know why I checked out Yahoo's utterly useless 2016 power rankings, but they had us ranked 18th and the Cowboys 10th. Ours said something like "2016 we will fall back down to earth with our first place schedule" and the Cowboys said "once Tony Romo is back this is basically the same team that was a title contender in 2014." I don't want to get my hopes up too much but I really hope McC kills it this offseason, I'm sick of all the hatters.

I agree that we'll likely fall back down a bit, maybe to the point of 7-9 even, but as long as we keep trending in the right direction AND adding talent, I'll feel good about our plan. It was obvious that Romo going down was a GIGANTIC hit, and they're obviously not 4-12 bad, but to call them a title contender is ridiculous. Would they have beaten Seattle, Arizona, hell, even GB? Probably not. Romo and Dez give them the opportunity to beat a lot of mediocre teams. But hey, isn't that exactly what WE finally did this year?

I agree with everything you said about that draft. Bruce Allen did a good job. I also think that draft would look even better if Long could transition to center next season.

Since I'm in an agreeable mood, I also agree with you on what we need on defense to improve significantly on that side of the ball. What we need now on defense is some STARS ("impact" players).

I'm hoping we get a defensive star in this year's draft. The right FA's could help, as well. Perhaps we'll re-sign Junior Galette and he'll have recovered enough to be an impact player for us. If we sign Galette, I'd like to see what Preston Smith can do for us as an inside pass rusher. I can foresee Smith moving around and giving offenses lots of problems.

I'm trusting Scot M. to find us the players we need to get better on defense in 2016.

Yeah I don't think they're 12-4 good, but they're not as bad as 4-12 with Romo. Hopefully their bounce back this year will be minimal at best.

cant expect much from yahoo sports, they are fairly hot garbage in terms of sports journalism.

I mean, anyone who watched the cowturds know they have major issues at every area on the field. WR, RB, QB, Secondary, Linebacker, Pass Rush, Coaching, etc.

Does that seem like a first place team?

Not only that but the rankings mean jack shit, half the teams in the league will look totally different in 6 months. It's just useless click bait. I am mostly mad at myself for giving them 1 more click than they deserve.

It does blow my mind that no matter how poorly Dallas plays, they are always in the conversation to win the NFC East and to go on to the Super Bowl. Provided, had the 'skins gotten past GB in the playoffs, maybe people would start recognizing them as a legitimate threat, but it still makes me laugh. Nobody else can use the excuse of injuries for a bad season, but if it's Dallas, "Oh, Dez was hurt, Romo was hurt...." That's two players from a 53-man roster! Provided, Romo and Dez are two of the best on their team, but still, the Cowturds could go 0-16 next year and they'll still say Dallas is the best in the NFC East.

Re: Better days ahead. (Off season part 1 thread)

My plan for better days ahead.....

DEF--
o draft and/or sign a ILB

o draft and/or sign a CB/NB

o keep Hatcher and Knighton

o draft DL (take advantage of the quality depth of DL in this draft)

o draft an edge rusher

o draft a S

Re: Better days ahead. (Off season part 1 thread)

i'm not sure i'd keep hatcher or knighton. i guess it depends on what we're looking at in FA/the draft.
