Bowen had one big hit. Otherwise he was always a step behind.

I was watching for Bowen, and I thought he looked good at stopping the run; he came in to stuff the hole on at least two occasions that I can remember, and was in on several other tackles as well. As for pass defense, which I've always thought was his weakness, Miami's passing game was so pathetic that they really didn't challenge the secondary much, though they did get a couple over the middle on us, which would presumably be Bowen's area.
Actually, Sportscenter's highlights of the game showed/mocked a play Bowen made against the run in the 1st quarter. While attempting to show how dominant the Skins were against the run, they showed a play where Bowen came up over the top of the pile and flipped all the way over. The quote on Sportscenter was "There goes Matt Bowen, flipping over the pile for no reason at all." Pretty funny. |

Champ Bailey is the premier cornerback in the NFL and most of you are bitter that he spurned the Redskins this offseason and because of the things he said about the team. He is the best, hands down.
Anyway, Sean Taylor could very well be the defensive rookie of the year, I was anxious to see how he played against starters and he didn't disappoint. I don't care if it was Miami's sorry excuse for an offense or not, Chambers can play football and he got into him a couple of times, forcing another turnover, this kid is insane! |

Taylor's stats speak for themselves, so far. And, as in college, his plays literally CHANGE THE GAME. It's not just what he does, it's when. And that's what makes a serious star in any sport.
But it's early yet, and NFL offenses are for real. He's still got a lot to learn about how to use his talent. But when he does, man! Look out. :headbange
