If the offensive line continues to allow the defense to flush Brunell out of the pocket in max protection, Coach Gibbs will continue to make the argument that the offense is not Brunell's fault. And rightfully so. Can you imagine what will happen if Ramsey comes into the game with this kind of inconsistency from our line? I'll tell you. Sack after sack after sack. Let's hope Brunell can pull out a win and continue to win until Ramsey truly understands how to read the defense and scramble when neccessary.
Brunell was sacked 5 times last week and he was clearly not comfortable most of the time in the pocket.

The team is 2-5, they're suffering from breakdowns in protection, and the WR's and QB's aren't on the same page yet. Putting him in would be setting him up for failure in my opinion. And the last thing he needs is to take another beating and keep making the same mistakes because he'll be forcing the issue to try to help the team rebound. Putting someone in the game due to injury is an entirely different story. What else can you do? You have to put him in then. |

Check out the Doc Walker interview over at extremeskins. He makes some good points about Brunell, about how he's just a few plays here and there away, he also points out the WR's dropping alot of balls earlier this year and that definitely wasn't his fault. And he also makes the point of mentioning Brunell is feeling the heat from the pass rush too often.

After the year Ramsey had with Spurrier......spending most of the time eating turf....
imagine the young guy coming into another year when the protection from the line once again ain't so stellar and again he gets pummeled.....perhaps Joe is thinking in terms of Ramsey's psyche and having him experiencing a total lack of confidence and Ramsey becoming shell shocked on the field............ |

Yes and no, our protection last year was just abysmal, the protection this year is much better than last year we may not set any record's but Ramsey was able to succeed with absolutly no protection, I believe he could survive with the protection he would be recieving now if he played. |

Saying the protection is better than last year isn't saying much.
It's definitely not to the level that Gibbs wants and expects, that's for sure. |
