12 men on the field is one of the rare plays that can be challenged even if the officials didn't originally catch it.
In my local paper today, Gibbs was quoted as saying that "a bunch of guys in the booth" were saying that the Vikings had 12 men on the field, so the credit has to go to the staff in the booth for catching it. Gibbs doesn't have access to the equipment necessary to spot it himself. So I would say that if anyone atoned for the blunder against Buffalo, it's the staff in the booth who didn't inform Gibbs of the double-timeout rule. They made up for that last night in a big way. |
