I don't think that is a good thing, mainly because of what Lotus keeps saying. If he has to sleep on it now, then next year he won't be happy.

I am not saying we need to blow him away, but it needs to be structured to give him a way to know he will be happy.

I'm guessing part of it is he doesn't want to risk being in the same spot a couple years from now. From what I understand his contract with the Eagles made the cap implications of releasing him virtually non-existent. As a result they were able to let him go at the drop of a hat.

A more generous signing bonus and years as has been suggested would require any team signing him to jump through more hoops should they have a change in heart.

No Dirt, not true. The cost of releasing Jackson was a $6 mil. dead cap hit. See here or here.

This is one reason why I have beaten the drum against DJax. Philly wanted him gone so bad, they were willing to absorb immediately a dead cap hit of $6 mil.

Besides, in two years a DJax deadcap hit of $6 mil. could be ours, too, if we sign him.

Well $6 mil was cheaper for Philly than getting rid of him in the future when the cap hit was going to be even more.

If thats the case you have to wonder how the guys in the Philly locker room feel. Riley Cooper stays on the team after an awful public incident that was caught on film for the world to see while Jackson gets unceremoniously released due to alleged gang ties.

Regardless the Eagles front office methods don't concern me. Only actions that made way for us to sign an elite player in their prime on the open market. Maybe it will end up being too good to be true but as stated before I'm more then fine with that risk.
