Needs on offense:

C

WR

TE

RB

I dont look at LG as a need. If you remember early in the year in the two games vs the Rams and Dolphins. We had Lauvo as our LG. He was really showing well this season before he was injured. With all the guys we lost he was one of the biggest. It did allow for Long to get acclimated to laying but Shaun was looking to really have a great year next to Trent. I want to see him back in the mix and with Lebrius and Long now both having a season of work there I see them as a great 1-2 G/C backuo combo.

C is a must though. Both Kory and Josh arent terrible but should not be used as the main starter.

WR- Very interested to see what we do with Garcon and Jackson to see how big the immediate need is. If we can keep both with a restructure or extension then great. I would like to keep both. So drafting a big #1 that can be developed is a good idea.

TE- again here we should be getting reinforcements from IR but we still need a guy here

RB- Jones and Thompson will be back. Young should be back. I would like to see Thomas (brought back) and a young guy brought back in.

other than those areas we are good on offense.

DEFENSE

DL-

LB-

CB-

S-

All are needs on defense.

This is exactly what we need and exactly why we need it.

Re: Better days ahead. (Off season part 1 thread)

I think it's clear that we have more needs on defense than on offense. We could handle some of those needs internally just by some players getting healthy, by re-signing a player or two, and perhaps by using a couple of players differently.

If Culliver and Ihenacho recover fully, they might well be starters at CB and SS. If Galette is fully recovered and re-signs with us, he'll start at one OLB spot.

I like the idea of using Preston Smith at DT, at least on passing downs. He is 6-5 and 270 lbs. right now. He could bulk up to 290 lbs. and handle the role that Hatcher wasn't able to fulfill.

You're looking at 3 or 4 upgrades right there.

As for the draft, I think we'll go heavy on defense. That's because our greatest needs are on that side and I still do not buy into the idea that anyone actually drafts purely BPA, no matter how many times they may claim to do so. Sherff was not a BPA pick IMO.

Beyond that, we need to add playmakers on defense to get our D to the next level. Whether we find them in the draft or in FA, it makes no difference to me.

I guess I'm not the only one that thinks like this, it's a no brainer:

One free agent makes a ton of sense for Redskins | CSN Mid-Atlantic

Joe Gibbs- The best coach of all time, Lombardi trophy should be renamed Gibbs.

Art Monk- Art was like an OL playing WR, doing the dirty work and not getting the glory.

Darrell Green- Best DB ever.

He certainly is an upgrade, but the arguement against, not only did he fall out of the discussion of league top centers this year, but he wants top center money. We shouldn't pay for past performance. And to simply say his decline is due to the inept brown offense...please tell me when it was good? That's a poor excuse and poorly written

The only evaluations I care about are the ones that Scot M. and Bill Callahan do. We're lucky to have such stellar talent evaluators and I trust their judgement completely. If they want him, then I want him.

Mack is a no brainer as long as the money is right. Doesn't seem like a SM move.

Thats what I'm thinking.
If McClue is who we think he is we can find an equal cheaper in the draft.

Actually fairly deep at the position just not a stand out. That said, I don't know if you could draft one and immediately plug him in. Maybe the kid from Notre dame...

Only one or two with size we're looking for.

SM likes value signings and guys 27 or younger in free agency. he doesn't fit either of those. not a bad player, just not one that i think we'll be signing.

I was getting ready to post this myself. Just the big physical kind of player SM likes. If he doesn't think it's a good move I wouldn't mind drafting Dan Voltz out of Wisconsin in the 3rd or 4th. Big guy..finishes blocks..gets to second level and has NFL strength.

Re: Better days ahead. (Off season part 1 thread)

I think Mack would be great IF at the right price. Sure, he is older but, if we get a couple years out of him while grooming his replacement, yay!

Not sure what the right price would be, but I am betting our "right price" is lower than his "right price" so I don't think it happens ... and that's okay too.
