Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
I will miss him, he was such a great guy. But now envisioning a future beyond 2018, it’s exciting.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
I just read an article on ESPN that said two years ago the Redskins offered Cousins a deal that averaged $12.5 million a year. I wish Cousins would tell the true story of what really was offered and his thoughts during his tenure in Washington. I would love to read his diary. I am pretty sure Snyder giving RG3 the keys to the city started things poorly right off the bat. Probably a nice long term contract offer would have made amends, but they insulted him again.
While I don't think he is as good as his stat line suggests he still is better than 2/3's of the starting QBs in the NFL. |

I rather have sent a 2nd round pick and just kept Fuller. And the 5 year deal...like I said before, we need to see the contract, but it better have an out clause after the 3rd year.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
The only thing I hate about the deal is getting rid of Kendall Fuller. Otherwise, it's a great deal and Alex Smith is the perfect QB for Gruden's system. Let's see what the details of the contract will be before we totally go off the rails. I'm happy the QB position is finally resolved. We have a good quarterback in place. Let's focus on building the running game, getting some better receivers, a linebacker, and another corner, lol!

Schneed, do you think there is truly long term value in Alex Smith, does he have upside? Should we be more excited about him than what KC brought us?

- Same accuracy, quick release, and ability to read defenses - Smith is more mobile, throws on the run better. Cousins was improving at this, but Smith almost always leads the NFL in first downs gained via rush from the QB position. He's known for killing you on 3rd and 4, when you defend the play perfectly, but Smith gets away from the rush and scrambles for the 1st. - Smith has a much, much better turnover rate. - Smith has a better red zone conversion rate. This may just be a reflection of the offenses they played in. And you have to give Cousins a break for any game where Reed didn't play, because Travis Kelce was healthy most of the time. But still, I think Smith punches it in a tad more often because he can escape the pocket better. I think we got a touch better at QB. It's just a shame we got worse in the secondary by losing Fuller. Valuable player.

Kirk was awful on 3rd downs the last 2 years, as we were as a team, this is the big upside. AS is great on 3rd and 4 or 5 because he can move so well.

Chiefs have a good young QB waiting in the wings. The Chiefs knew they could get a good deal on Smith .The Redskins knew KC didn't want to stay and sure is not worth 34 million a season so this seems like a good deal for all involved.
