I don't follow your logic here for a couple of reasons. When Gibbs brought in GW it was understood he was in line next for the main job. Why would Saunders agree to come in, knowing that, and then leave when he actually has the opportunity to run the offense w/o any outside influence (assuming Gibbs leaves)? That makes no sense. If anything Saunders stock has fallen some and he would like to prove he can create the kind of production everyone witnessed back in KC.

Second, the offense has looked "confused" until they put the ball in JC's hands. A lot of folks blame the confusion on the fact that Gibbs/Saunders were trying to somehow compromise in the gameplan - Saunders might call the plays but then Gibbs would admit in a press conference that he regularly influences the playcalling. Result: lack of cohesion, gameplan constantly was out of sync. So my argument is let one guy or the other do the friggin job w/o the confusion. Again, some guys think Gibbs should take control, I've long thought Saunders should take control. But is sounds like you're making the argument that they go best together. Didn't the first half of the season prove otherwise?

Would Saunders stay on in a scenario where Greg Williams was head coach? If he does, great. However, we would lose Bugel and then we'd have to hunt for a new O-line coach. If Gibbs leaving does not jeopardize offensive continuity in any way, then I'm all for him retiring.

I am not advocating that Gibbs and Saunders collaboratively run the offense - that has been and would be disastrous as you point out. Would be great if we could have a cardboard cut-out of Gibbs on the sideline to keep coaching egos in check and turn over 4th and 1 type decisions to Saunders.

I am not real happy with Joe, but I think this is a great thread. I will be more than happy to have him sign another 5 year contract. Unless he says I'm out and I need to go retire again he is and always will be the best man for the job. Joe Gibbs is a legit football general and there are so very few out there.

I hope he retires. Can someone please explain why you try a 50 yard fg when you have 4th and 1? Have some damn confidence in the players you brought in here to pick up one yard. If I believe we had two 4th and ones and he didn't go for either one.

When you are on the road, against a better team that is going to score you don't play for 3 points. It's just stupid.

As much as I love the guy he needs to hang it up.

I agree - pi$$ poor nutless decision not to go for that 4th and 1 in the second q. Typical of Gibbs 2.0. The missed field goal gave Dallas great field position and set them up for their first points of the evening. Once they tasted blood, they capitalized.

If Gibbs returning meant Saunders returning, and Campbell getting stellar at running this offense, and it kept Greg Williams' head coaching ambitions in check for another year, would you be for it?

I'm for it. But eventually we need to get someone in here who plays a little more aggressive than Gibbs does. It's just the same old shit week after week. He had to see that the defense was having a hard time and FG's was not going to cut it. We had 2 4th and ones and he didn't go for it either time.

Not only can too much go wrong but the boost you'd give them by failing is too huge to outweigh the possible positive of picking up the 1st.

Disagree. Of course, Gibbs 2.0 thinks exactly as you've stated.

On the road is where you send a message that you've come to play and challenge the bitches. If this was a 4th and 1 from the Dallas 20 yd line, at least you could reasonably argue that you could bank on Suisham for 3 points.

How's the boost you give them by failing on a 4th and 1 any more than the boost you give them by missing a field goal?

What is your problem? I was trying to say that you guys should get more respect from fans and should be back next year.

Love or hate him, TO is a great player who will get into the HOF one day. As for the ring of honor, that is not decided by fans so I don't know how I will feel when they do.

Try to take it easy though, your team showed more positive signs in this game than any of those 5 wins IMO.

It's already hard enough for any of us to debate whether such a Redskin icon has lost his touch, but for you to point it out is rubbing it in. It's not that Skins fans flip flop in general, but that there are just some skins fans who won't be happy with anything we do unless we go undefeated and win the Super Bowl. I, for one, have supported Joe Gibbs and will continue to support him as long as he is our head coach. Even when we do win, he gets no credit, but all of the blame for when we lose. In short, we have skins fans who look at the big picture, and skins fans who are too short sighted to look past 15 minutes ago.
