Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
I'm most impressed with Mason again. This kid may force the team to trade one of our backs. Portis knows how to block, Ladell runs down hill, Rock is a lock on special teams.
I'm not a big Portis fan but he does protect the quaterback and unfortunately I don't think this is a strength of Ladell's. I think Mason is our best pure runner but there are the other intangibles that make him a liability at this point. I would like to see Mason run with the first team offense against a first string defense and then let's see how he looks. |

Totally agree, this guy is a pure runner. I would love to see what he can do with the #1 offense.

Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
OK- I am now officially a Colt Brennan fan.
He's a productive college player with something to prove. Colt looked both calm an excited in the 2min offense. The question is: at that moment last night, given all the players on both teams remain the same ("scrubs") - which of the 4 skins qb's do you think would have marched down the field and scored the winning TD? I say no to JC, TC and Devine. I was excited with Colt entering the game - I would have been scared if it had been anyone else (yes JC included). I want to see Colt have a series or two with the starters. If someone in AA ball was hitting .425 with 15 homers - people would be screaming to call the kid up, just to see what he could do. I don't see the problem in wanting our 3rd stringer to line-up with the starters once or twice to see what happens. He's doing everything right. Give him a shot and let him fail to shut people like me up - or let him succeed and start grooming him as your next franchise QB. |

Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
Young QBs tend to be inconsistent. It's part of the learning curve. Overall he's been more good than bad this preseason, including how he's looked in camp.
For a guy learning another new offense I think he's actually ahead of schedule. In comparison look at how a veteran QB in Todd Collins has looked in trying to learn this offense. |

Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
I think that JC has been much improved this season so far. He has been better outside the pocket and his footwork and mechanics have vastly improved leading to a quicker release. However my biggest concern from last year until now is his deep ball. He needs to put a little more air under his deep balls because they always seem to be just a tad to deep.

Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
JC really scares me.Our whole season depends on him.We all know he works very hard trying to learn in the off season .I will give him that .But im tired of these so so teams .I hope Joe could get us back to being that dominate team again. But we fell short once again.I've seen improvement on JC so far but he needs to be more consistant ,work on the deep throws and hold onto the ball.I can't tell ya how many times he dropped the ball last year.Hail to the skins

Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
Wait a minute, the guy has one so so game out of three and he's inconsistent? Are you guys being for real here? What, he's supposed to light it up and be perfect in preseason?
By the way, have we looked around the league at the other QBs in Campbell's class? Get back to me when you look at their stats from this preseason. |

Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
Bottom line, anyone who has watched the Skins over the past season, this preseason included, and their saying we need to trade Campbell needs their head checked.
