I dont know how old you are...but try making that call in the 4th quarter of a SUPER BOWL...Joe Gibbs did the same thing...and the call resulted in the biggest play in Redskins history.

Don't dis Joe Gibbs...it is his character that has basically run out victories in the last 2 divisional games.

Gibbs is AWESOME.

Zorn pass offense plus Gibbs Run offense + character is what you see....and ... WOW what a combo!!

It's just so damn refreshing to have a coach who plays to win. This is what we've needed for the last four years!!!! Did anyone see Zorn on the sidelines before the 4th and 1 call? He wasn't even thinking about punting. He knew we were pushing around the Eagles front 7.

Amen Brother!!! Gibbs would have punted and put the game in the hands of Gregg Williams's D. From the big 4th down pass to put away the New Orleans victory to this, Zorn is utterly unafraid to put the game in the hands of his offensive players when they have a chance to seal the deal.

To play devil's advocate, how much of this do you think is due to lack of faith in Brooks right now?

I don't think that has much to do with it. If Brooks was that bad, wouldn't we have tried to cut our losses with him and at the very least brought other punters in for a workout? These very short 4th downs we're going for are really in keeping with the style of playcalling Zorn has shown overall.

I agree. It had nothing to do with the punter. Plus how great of a call was that? Zorn had the field spread out and ran the ball out of shotgun. We never ever ever did that in the past. If that was last year we would've punted. But let's say we did go for it we would've been in jumbo package and the defense would know we were running to the left. Two times yesterday we ran the ball out of shotgun when the defense wasn't expecting it.

I really don't think that had anything to do with it. Zorn has shown he trusts his players and will go for the throat, I think that was the case yesterday.

I really don't understand why praise for Zorn automatically warrants a backhanded swipe at Gibbs everytime. What purpose does it serve and why stop there? Let's compare Zorn to every coach since Gibbs' first retirement. It's ridiculous. I've seen these comments over and over on various sites since the season started and I'm sick of it.

Don't get me wrong. I want more than anything for Zorn to succeed. I want our fans to experience the same things I did growing up watching a winning franchise. Joe Gibbs inherited a mess when he came back and didn't owe anyone squat. If you're going to continually judge him, then step back and look at the big picture. If anyone says Gibbs left this team worse than when he started, then you're either a complete idiot or you simply get your jollies tearing down a man who has given more to this franchise than any one else in its history. Did Gibbs make mistakes? Sure he did and so will Zorn. When that happens, please don't make excuses for him. I expect everyone who thinks Zorn is the greatest thing since sliced bread to criticize him with the same fervancy they continue to do with Gibbs.

What I find completely ironic is the people that said the Gibbs homers should just let him go and move on when he retired, are the same people who keep bringing him back up, only to offer criticism or take jabs at him. It was hard for me letting Gibbs go, but I moved on. I don't feel the need to compare the two. I've embraced Zorn and I'm excited at the things he's doing here. I hope he surpasses what Gibbs did and brings us 4 Lombardis. Zorn's successes will only add to our legacy. They should not and will not diminish what Gibbs accomplished.

And here comes the battle of Old School and New School! The NFL is not the same game as it was 20 years ago. I don't care what anyone says. It's faster, more athletic, more aggressive and more convoluted. It's obvious that our players NOW are buying into what their being sold. Several of our key players including Clinton Portis have even been vocal about this in a round about way. I've met Joe Gibbs on numerous occasions and he's the best model for what we humans could be. But I have to agree with Hurrykaine. I believe a big part of his decision to retire was that he realized that the game has changed and he wasn't the man to take us all the way.

You could see him lip "come on Devin" then it looked like he was runnin from a fight and ran into someone on the sideline. Lets just all start living this moment up. We just freakin beat the two most hated teams in a row. I love what Gibbs did for this organation, But you old timers need to stop living in the past and give Zorny and the boys some credit. Exactly. How about we wait four years and not five games before comparing the two.

As to your other point, the "old timers" aren't the ones who are continually bringing Gibbs up in the conversation. I'm completely content with praising Zorn without feeling the need to thank Gibbs in the same breath.

Let's not argue fellas, Joe Gibbs was great. That was then, this is now. Let us bask in the greatness that is Jim Zorn. Hopefully he is the next legendary coach in the story of the Washington Redskins. Maybe he can lead us to the top in his time here. Who knows? We could lose every game for the rest of the season and he could be fired next year...

When Gibbs retired didn't he say he would still be giving advice? Zorn and Gibbs have a lot in common. I think we are seening the second part of Gibbs now.
