You've got to remember that the coaches live and die with the QB. Zorn's long-term future is connected to winning. Not waiting to see if JC can become an elite QB who can win games for the team. I hope he makes it but question his long-term viability every game when we score less than 10 points. |

Re: What's Wrong with the Redskins?
Indeed. It's difficult to win when 2 out of the 3 phases of the game have been subpar all season.[/quote
WE can't seem to get both lines playing top quality ball during the same game since the bye. Suisham is a goner after the season is over. A kicker that can't make a FG over 40 yards is useless. Thrash needs to retire or something. Randle El needs to be let go once his contract is up. Our O line is over the hill and is in dire need of a massive overhaul via the draft and free agency. I say get a tall speedy WR from either the Big 12 or SEC next draft to replace Thrash, and don't give me that he is good for special teams crap as Rock has that covered as with Moss and Randle El. |

Re: What's Wrong with the Redskins?
The problem is totally with our offensive and defensive lines point blank. Our offensive line does not provide any support for Campbell. The defense of the other team just tees up on us. Without offensive line support the receivers can not make plays because we take it for granted that they are standing at the point where they need to be instead of running to that position. the D line is also one of the worst we have had in years. Eli had all day due to the lack of the blitz. A QB as good as Eli will pick you apart all day. If you can't cover which the Redskins can't then you need to blitz and we do not blitz.

Re: What's Wrong with the Redskins?
To the poster who said: "bring back Norv". The guy had .45 seasons with three different teams, including seven years with the Redskins. He's driving the Chargers into oblivion. Still in love with his being an OC for the Cowgirls back in the early 1990's?
Zorn will probably be 9-7 or 10-6 at the end of his ROOKIE season. This beats .45 win/loss of Norv (seven seasons), .500 for Schotty (1 season), .45 for the Gator Coach (2 seasons) and .45 for Gibbs II ( 4 seasons). What's the beef with Zorn? I agree he will probably bring in a new OC for next year if the offense continues to under perform. |

Re: What's Wrong with the Redskins?
I agree that Jason gets this entire season to show us his talent (his fourth year). I even agree that [assuming we don't get to the playoffs this year] that he gets half of next season. However, no NFL QB gets 6 seasons to prove their worth. In fact few if any NFL players gets that long. Win, score points, get to the playoffs and you're the hero. Otherwise you're on another team as the #2 QB trying to show you've still got the goods. That's the way it is in the NFL.
You've got to remember that the coaches live and die with the QB. Zorn's long-term future is connected to winning. Not waiting to see if JC can become an elite QB who can win games for the team. I hope he makes it but question his long-term viability every game when we score less than 10 points.[/quote If we tank the rest of the way I think we will have our answer about JC's viablilty, but we will be stuck with him for 2 more seasons(2009-2010). The proverbial excuse for him has been coaching/system changes. This won't be an excuse anymore, but you can bet on a major overhaul in the offense in the offseason and if he faltersin '09, they will blame his potential failure on that(new players, chemistry, etc). The 2010 season will be the season where this guy will have nothing to hide behind if he still is an average QB. My question is do we really want to wait til 2010 to play this thing out? |

Re: What's Wrong with the Redskins?
I am absolutely convinced that if we get better pass protection and Zorn "unleashes" Campbell, the guy will be a top 5 QB. Until we get better protection and start going deeper more often, we will continue to struggle on offense, regardless of who is under center. But, if people want to believe that all our woes lie in one man.....more power to them.

Not picking your team to win does not equate to not wanting them to win.

I hear lots of excuses for JC but hear nothing about his throwing into triple coverage today, underthrowing open WR's today, holding the ball too long instead of throwing it away, today, etc, etc. Winners find a way to win. Without Clinton Portis having an MVP year, this offense wouldn't be scoring even the low amounts it is now. Without this defense holding down the score we'd be a bad team. I hope JC makes it for the long haul but ppl make too many excuses for a QB in his fourth season. |

Re: What's Wrong with the Redskins?
whole new offense next year. zorn came in here and didnt want to change much because we made the playoffs last year and he figured that was the best bet. now he knows. we have alot of guys that are too old and too slow not saying they arent good or average but you dont win championships with just average

Dude it is sort of an inside joke about bringing in Norv as the OC next year. I was BSing with Goat in another thread about how we could get Norv back once the Chargers can his ass. The whole thing is a joke, but might not be so crazy given the anemic offense we have. I have nothing against Zorny at all, but I think the talent we have with our passing offense(QB and Wrs) was brought in to be more geared towards Gibbs style of passing attack. Zorn either has to clean some house in the offseason or tweak his system and get new linemen of course!!!!! |
