Re: 2009 Free Agents
Falcons could release Keith Brooking. Heres a guy who can play inside and out.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I like Angelo Crowell or Michael Boley... solid guys with probably lower price tags. Also, Chris Canty is great but probably abit more expensive but get him if we can afford it.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
what about Donnie Edwards? the guy can flat out play, and i wouldn't think he would command top dollar

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Edwards is going to be 36 in April, the guy can still play but I'd be nervous about his play dropping off suddenly due to his age. Plus he's not a physical kind of LB. Not sure he would fit in this scheme.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Just Heard DJ Hackett got released by the Panthers......what do you guys think? Cato June aslo released.
I know last year we wanted Hackett but I guess he turned out to be a bust for the Panthers

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Yup, hopefully they'll save us from ourselves (like the Bengals did last year) and make Haynesworth an offer he cant refuse. signing haynesworth is about they only thing they can do to meet the salary floor this year. what are they now, 60M under the cap?
As far as theyre released players, id be interested in Cato June. Id certainly rather him play OLB for 2M/year than have Jason Taylor play there at 8.5.

) But it would sound as though TB will out-bid us then so my day seems a little brighter. ... June is a guy I'd be very interested in... over Boley and even over Crowell cuz of those knee issues. Interesting possibility.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Quote:
Cato June, LB 2008 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Grade: 68 | Key Alert: None Comment: June moved from the weak outside linebacker position he was playing in Indianapolis to the strong outside linebacker position for the Buccaneers. He is undersized for the position, but plays with good instincts and is very athletic. He plays with a good motor and is very competitive going to the ball. He has the intelligence to play on either side and not miss a beat. He does a good job of recognizing blocking schemes and is quick to locate the level of the ball. He takes good angles and can adjust on the move. He can struggle when he has to take on and defeat blockers while at the point of attack and generally has to run around most blockers rather than take them on. He is not the strongest tackler and does not always come under control before contact, which can cause him to miss his share of tackles. He looks athletic when dropping into space and does a good job of defending the pass. He can close on the ball and shows ball skills when he gets to the area. While he probably fits the weak side linebacker spot better, he can be effective playing on the strong side, as well.

So much for their being little interest in teams signing him to a big money deal.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I wonder if we'll dodge a bullet by not signing Haynesworth, just like when we did not trade for Dre Bly or Lance Briggs. Although if AH goes to Tampa and has a Pro Bowl year, I can see people complaining about it. I think I'd almost put money on it (almost, we're in bad economic times).
