I agree with this....Daniels is one of the most under-rated Skins.
I think the guy is rock solid...as long as he is healthy, he make our run defense awesome.

I think Daniels is a potential coach/trainer.
The guy is a stud.
I hope he helps out these rookie DE's bigtime.
I can see Daniels being here for 3 more years...starter this year...maybe half of next and backup thereafter...heck, he's a pretty good DT on passing downs too (at least before the injury)

Yes. He is a run-stopping monster. Can play DT like you say, and is very good at knocking down passes. I hope the rooks realize how much they can learn from him. I think Daniels is going to have a great year if he stays healthy. Him and AH bring a lot of beef!

I'm one of the 96 who voted good move, btw. I'm just lukewarm on it and taking the oppertunity to play devil's advocate.

The risk is nothing compared to what KC and Denver gave for T. Jackson and Ayers at the 3rd and 18th picks . Jarmon , Jackson and Ayers played DE in the SEC . Here are the Numbers , TFL/Sacks , Jarmon 30/18 ,,, Jackson 31/19 ,,, Ayers 31/9 ,,, and Orakpo 38/22 . Jarmon's No.s are in 3 years , so his productivity is as good as the guys taken in rd 1 this year , if not better .

For those who can't read between the lines....I think he's refering to the others having 4 yrs of college with those numbers and Jarmon having the same numbers in 3 yrs. Hmmm. Still seems like a bargain. maybe even better then we thought. Imagin Orakpo being a 1st round pick actually not living up to his billing. Now that would be a waist of a pick and money.

We needed pass rush this yr. Our whole defense did ok with out a pass rush but could be awsome with one and our owner went out and picked up pass rushers.....AH, Orakpo, and now Jarmon. Yet all we can seem to do is complain about picking up pass rushers. You all should be happy the defense is set now at least for a few yrs. Hopefully the Offense can handle their business and next yr we can pick up some more O-lineman.

Re: Redskins Select Jarmon in 3rd Round of Supplemental Draft

I'm slightly confused.....we in essance drafted a guy a yr early, a player who was reported to be a 2nd or 3rd round talent, and the team (I presume) will be paying him pennies compared to him actually going through the draft and getting paid third round talent....no? So again in essance we got a bargain. Unless I'm missing something.

Also, what happens to all the others who were in the supplemental draft? Jarmon was the only drafted player and I thought somewhere I had seen that there was actually 3 decent players in the Supp Draft one being a WR and an O-lineman I thought. If no one picks them are they elligable to be asked to someones camp?

They are basically UDFA's. They can sign with anyone who wants them.

Thanks. So now, how many players were in the Supp Draft? Whatever article I read said there was only 3 or 4 worthy of being picked.

Re: Redskins Select Jarmon in 3rd Round of Supplemental Draft

All I seem to find is this list of 8...

Here’s a list of the eight players available in this year’s supplemental draft:

Blake Boyd, LB, Western Kentucky
Jeremy Jarmon, DE, Kentucky
Torris Magee, WR, Southern Miss
Dixon McKinner, DE, Texas Tech
Joe McMahon, G, Central Michigan
Demetrice Morley, S, Tennessee
Deon Murphy, WR, Kansas State
Corey Surrency, WR, Florida State

Are any others worth asking to try out?

Well it doesn't cost anything so I would ask McMahon to come in and tryout. He's a 6-3 290lb. center-guard. Maybe Boyd. Has good size for a strongside LB at 6-3 250. He also led his team in tackles but is supposedly an average athlete.

Re: Redskins Select Jarmon in 3rd Round of Supplemental Draft

I understand all were in the Supp Draft for a reason and I have not looked at all of them, but I thought perhaps one of the WR's could come in (as if we don't have enough all ready) and challenge for a spot. Then I read up on Corey Surrency...oh my god....

Florida State WR Corey Surrency

Like most players entering the NFL Supplemental Draft, Surrency has a colorful past leading him to the NFL’s special draft.

NCAA denied his request for another year of eligibility. The former Seminole dropped out of high school in the ninth grade and received his GED in jail. After playing for a semi-pro team called the Florida Kings, Surrency (6’4", 226 lbs.) attended El Camino Community College before transferring to FSU in 2008.

In his very limited NCAA career, Surrency, who has great size and the speed to go with it, showed flashes, catching 12 balls for 237 yards (19.8 avg.) and four touchdowns. However there are lingering character issues around this over-aged prospect (25 years old) as he was suspended twice in 2008, missing one game each time for separate off-the-field incidents.

Definitely looks like a non-selection in the Supplemental Draft with some team giving him a shot in training camp or on a practice squad. Reminds me of Arena League player Larry Brackins of the Philadelphia Soul who has had NFL stops with the Jets and Buccaneers.

Are you surprised? It's FSU, the Dallas Cowboys of the NCAA.
