but it kindof takes away some of the luster when a rook QB on a team as bad as Tampa can come in and throw 3 td's in his 1st yr in the system, 1st start. Brees was good in SD, its not like he was a scrub and then the light came on when he got to N.O

Re: Updated: Evaluating the QB Situation (Discuss Campbell, Colt, etc)
What gets me is that the kind of play we are getting out of Campbell thus far has been IDENTICAL to Mark Brunell during his final year as the starter.
He was blamed for not throwing the deep ball and always throwing the checkdown. Allegedly the line was horrible then too. It seems like for as long as i can remember, the redskins have had a horrible O-line. Nobody is screaming bench Campbell, but they were screaming to bench Brunell when he did the same exact stuff. He actually had 8 TD's through 6 games in 2006, and when Jason had 1 TD per game, he was playing at a career level....go figure.

I think the big difference there is that Brunell was seen as though he had passed his prime. Campbell on the other hand was supposed to be "taking the next step." |
