Re: More Haynesworth Drama? Big Al Sounds Off After Ravens Game

Awesome article by Sally. I never knew Shanahan was so much of a bad ass. Ironically that story might be why Shanahan doesn't kill his players during practice, which in turn is all the more surprising that Haynesworth has had trouble practicing. Shanahan seems to be a very veteran friendly coach. All he ask is that you when you do practice you give it your all and when you're off the field you make sure you study your playbook and the gameplan for the upcoming week. That's the thing I've noticed with Shanahan as he seems to be a more cerebral coach, even down to how he deals with players.

By the way has anyone posted this quote. Not quite as bad ass as the kidney story, but still worthy of the title.
Mike Shanahan Not Taking Albert Haynesworth's Excuses -- NFL FanHouse
Quote:
"One thing for sure that is clear to me is that Albert has gotten away in the past with playing without practicing,'' Shanahan said. "That will not happen under this regime. If he's going to play, he's going to practice, and that is the same with every player here. The days of him playing without practicing are over. And that, to me, says it all.''

Sources within the team said that Haynesworth complained of dizziness and headaches last week and was asked if he was dehydrated. He said no, but tests revealed he actually was dehydrated. When he was told he would not play in the Ravens preseason game without practice, the headaches eventually "disappeared,'' a Redskins coach said.

Shanahan said that he will continue to work to get the best from Haynesworth.

"We know what type of talent he is,'' Shanahan said. "We will keep looking for that.''
