Re: Super Bowl Gameday Thread

I hate that Russell Wilson had to lose. I have so much respect for that guy. Great guy off field. Great player on the field. And it's scary that he's so young - he's just going to get better.

Having said that, I'm glad the Seahawks lost. But I don't think this loss has humbled them. I think they're still going to talk smack (I'm looking at you Richard Sherman), I think they're still going to be arrogant, and I think until some team comes up and smacks them right in the face and completely embarrasses them on national television, you won't see much of a change with the Seahawks. But, I do take great joy and seeing them disappointed, even if it was at the hands of the New England Patriots.

With that said, I hope Scot McCloughan has what it takes to bring some of that Seattle magic to the Redskins. To build a powerhouse than can rival the Seahawks in the post season would be great. And then of course, a team that can win the Super Bowl.

By the way, I could have stood to have seen more of Katy Perry.

But when they are at the one yard line, why not use your timeouts? Seattle was going to try n punch it in. No way they are going to try and make new england use their timeouts? I mean u wind up losing with 40 seconds left or maybe 0 seconds left? I was yelling at my tv wtf r u doing?!? Lol
Edit: i meant when Seattle had the ball at the end and the Pats had two to's left, not when the Pats marched down the field. Sorry.

Re: Super Bowl Gameday Thread

Bottom line, it was a great game. Right up there as one of the most exciting games. I am not a fan of either team but still a good game to watch. Good teams making good plays.

Brady played a really good game but was helped by an excellent game plan and solid games from his receivers - I don't recall any bad drops and more than a few really nice catches. Mostly, well thrown balls to the right receiver who then caught them and, generally, made a few extra yards. Had the Pats lost, however, the goal line interception early on would have been critical (horrible throw, just bad and cost points).

Wilson also played well. Made plays when he had to do so, but just not enough. NE contained Lynch and, while a solid game, he never really took it over as I have seen him do in other big games. Regardless, the final pass play was a terrible, terrible call and the Seattle OC's attempt to blame the receiver (alleging he didn't fight hard enough) was ridiculous.

It was a team effort by both squads. A few missed calls, but none that made me say "Well, that really taints the game."

As for the brawl, yeah, punches were thrown by both but Seattle blew their cool and started it. Both sides escalated it.

I hate anyone who puts on that uniform. I used to be sort of a closet Seahawks fan. I remember really rooting for them against Pittsburgh. Now they are almost my most hated team in any sport. I am pretty sure it stems mainly from carroll and sherman.

Wilson just seems like a real good guy. I find no reason to hate on him at all. I mean he goes to local hospitals on his day off to visit cancer patients. It's some of his teammates that rub me the wrong way and Sherman is one of them. That crap he pulled calling out Revis during the game is what I'm talking about.

It's a competition, you can respect your opponent and still talk crap to them, Wilson I don't like because people talk about him like he is Drew Brees. Richard Sherman is being himself. To be honest I don't care if athletes visit hospitals or donate charities, that isn't why I watch sports. Richard Sherman strikes me as the same person on the field that he is off. Also, never really cared about the athlete being some kind of ambassador of peace.

I disagree with that. A community is only as strong as the members of the community, I don't care if you are a small business owner, an athlete a politician, a teacher a CEO of a publically traded company if you are not a vested member of the community you are not being responsible. I have a hard time believing that if it came out that none of the Redskins were being active in the DMV that you would find that acceptable.

I agree. Your making millions to play a game. You better find time to help out in the community.

looks like Brady had the last laugh with Sherman, and showed class while kicking his ass. What a concept

If you noticed, Brady stayed complete away from Sherman. I think he threw at him once or twice. Sherman may be a self promoter and all, but he still has the respect of the best QB's in the game.

I really would not care if they were helping the community or not. All I really care about is if they are winning on Sunday. If you wanna visit a hospital that's fine, if you wanna keep your millions and just chill in your house that is fine too, end of the day I watch them to see them play football, not find out what "good deed" they are doing.
