Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion
Thomas is activated from PUP. I'm kinda surprised by this move since the injury happened in late winter time, I hope they are not rushing Thomas.

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion
I think Thomas' injury wasn't as bad as let say Chase Young's injury.

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion
Speaking of Logan being back…anyone see the cut block on KT last night? Reminded me of the one that injured Thomas knee:

Cut blocks need to go. Yeah, theyre useful and usually not endangering player safety on those 4th and inch QB sneak plays or goal line dives .. but when its done in space like this, it should be illegal. Not sure how you would word it. --------------- In an effort to increase player safety, NFL owners approved a change to the league's low block rule. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the league has given the thumbs up on a proposal first brought by the competition committee that expands prohibition against blocking below the waist. The approved proposal illegalizes blocking below the waist by offensive and defensive players on scrimmage downs when contact occurs beyond five yards on either side of the line of scrimmage and more than two yards outside of either offensive tackle. The league had previously outlawed blocks below the waist by players of either team after a change of possession or during kicks. This update expands the rule to scrimmage downs, leaving the aforementioned rectangle of pre-snap space as the last real estate in which blocks below the waist are permitted. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-owners-...tart-training- from 2021 .. |

Honestly they should've been banned for years - guys are having years taken off their careers when they blow out their knee from these blocks.

They could add that no block can be initiated at or below the knee I guess ?

You see this type of block and injury happening when a RB/TE cut block a pursuer on the back end. Id say only the 5 down lineman and D lineman can do it ... this is where universal numbers by position would help. Only guys wearing 50-79 etc |

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion
The Commanders placed Gerry (undisclosed) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Gerry signed a contract with Washington at the beginning of August, but barring an injury settlement, he'll be forced to miss the entire 2022 campaign due to an undisclosed injury. The 2017 fifth-round pick hasn't played since 2020. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/fo...y-lands-on-ir/ |

On the injury front, Al Galdi confirmed on his pod that we have no words on what Andrew Norwell is out. Rivera flat out said in press conf, responding to Ben Standig asking about Norwell "See I don't have to give you an injury report, so I'm just telling you it's guys taking care of themselves [...] I know, I don't have to tell you that". That was kinda hilarious. Oh, and we were so doom and gloom last week end that we forgot to comment on one very good news: Chase Roullier being back! He started and played well last week ! He'll need Norwell and Schweitzer/Turner to be back from injury at his side, cuz Aaron Monteiro and Saahdiq Charles ain't doing it, but that's a rare very good news.

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion
Re-went through our 1st stringers snaps of our 2 preseason games, and if I have to be honest, our LBs didn't play nearly as bad as I thought. Both Davis and Holcomb made some very good plays against the run, and covered decently most of the time, of course against KC's TEs and Mahomes buying time they got exposed a couple time, but who in the league wouldn't be?
The issue really seems to be our secondary, they're not on synch, and get toasted. The DL played really well in the first game, and while obviously not producing enough against Mahomes, it's not like they weren't getting any pressure either.

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion
I agree, if I had to pick a unit (starters) I'd say the secondary didn't play as well. They got straight up burnt a couple times, and also fell victim to Mahomes buying time like he does so well. No one really stands out to me as having made a play...except Fuller when he saved a TD - batting the ball away in the end zone.
That Fortson dude had a couple TDs, but on that first one he definitely moved Fuller off him to get enough space for the catch, and I don't think Curl could have covered him any tighter for the second one. I think they'll have a better game plan in the regular season for those QBs that scramble / buy time. Like you eluded to though, vs Mahomes and Company - most teams are going to give up yardage and points. |

Re: 2022 Commanders Training Camp discussion
We brought back Wes Martin after he was waived by Jags.. I'm surprised we decided to bring Martin back, instead of Flowers. I think Flowers is better than Martin...
