Newsome: No trade offer worthy of serious consideration for Gaither
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on May 9, 2010 4:19 PM ET PFT hears that Jared Gaither's latest foot/toe injury is minor but the Ravens are going to make sure, sending him in for a MRI on Monday and a specialist next week. Many see the injury as a precursor to a trade or a sign of unhappiness after Gaither was moved to right tackle this week. "He didn't tell me he was protesting or anything like that," Harbaugh said. While trade talk continues to swirl, Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome says that there hasn't been a trade offer "worthy of serious consideration" for Gaither. The Bills reportedly want Gaither badly, but Newsome apparently doesn't think they want him enough.

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports that restricted free agent FS O.J. Atogwe will not sign his tender with the Rams, meaning he'll become an unrestricted free agent on June 1.

I don't believe not signing makes him a free agent. I believe it makes him the rams property at 110% of his last year salary. But I am not positive, I know JoeRedskin had posted it a while ago

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 8)
RFA's that don't sign have a certaint period to either sign their tender or get traded before the deadline that is set by the league otherwise they won't play at all next season.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 8)
I was about to say. If you could just wait out a "RFA" tender you would see a huge stream of players available after June 1. It would essentially be a second free agency and ironically the one with the better prospects.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 8)
From the Redskins Mailbag:
Question: If the Redskins switch to a 3-4, will Rocky McIntosh move inside? If McIntosh stays outside, what will happen with Andre Carter? -- Jesus C. Gary: This was cleared up during mini-camp. In a 3-4, McIntosh would play inside linebacker next to London Fletcher. Carter, who continues to rehab from biceps surgery, would line up on the outside. It’s a change in role for Carter, but he is still expected to rush the passer. He was an outside linebacker in San Francisco when the 49ers used a 3-4 in 2005, so he has experience at linebacker. Even though he prefers defensive end, coaches are going to put him in position to maximize his unique athleticism and skill set. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question: Hey Gary, with Andre Carter and Jeremy Jarmon switching to linebackers (in a 3-4 alignment), and the Redskins drafting Perry Riley as well, it seems we are “ready for battle” with our linebackers. Who do you see panning out as our starters, though? Thanks! -- Stephen B. Gary: It’s a little early to anoint starters, but it’s probably safe to assume that Carter and Brian Orakpo would start at outside linebacker and Rocky McIntosh and London Fletcher would start on the inside in a 3-4. Once Jarmon is fully recovered from his knee ligament injury, he is expected to join Lorenzo Alexander and Chris Wilson in competing for playing time at outside linebacker. Riley joins H.B. Blades, Chris Draft and Robert Henson competing for playing time at inside linebacker.

Jarmon was always around the 280 range. Besides, with that new conditioning program, it's probably much easier to lose weight that to gain weight, especially gaining "useful" weight(aka muscle).
