Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Seems like Hankins is overplaying his hand. I'd think the closer to the draft it gets, teams are just going to move on and draft a guy to take that position. We're example 1a, most mocks have us taking DL. He'll probably get a mediocre 1 year deal somewhere.

I'm a fan not a capologist. I don't give a damn about next years cap. That's the Skins problem. Just get me a damn Nose Tackle!

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I am not fan of 1 year deals (unless player had bad season or coming back from injury), I think one year deals for players like Hankins isn't ideal. It puts extra pressure on FO to resign the player next off season while trying to extend contracts with our players with expired contracts or signing some FAs. But then some could point to how this strategy worked out well with Zach Brown.

Plus and others have mentioned this...contracts of younger performers on the team are coming up...which is true but that leads to obvious bigger discussions with Jordon Reed and Josh Norman contracts not this year but next. Im fairly confident unless Norman has a great/probowl season(he very well could) or Jordan Reed actually stays healthy and performs as a top 6-7 Tight End (he very well could)...both could be last years with the team...which would create the space we needed. Or we could redo their deals...but if one or both don't perform they absolutely WILL NOT get their full money in 2019 from the Skins. |

I can understand why as a NT he wants a long term deal though. May be his last real shot at one. |

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
No but he's a real solid player at a position that has been of crucial need for several years.
Right now I don't think there's any real urgency to sign him, but he's the only FA left that would make sense IMO. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I don't think there's been a lot of hyperbole about Hankins. It's just that filling a clear need with a good player gives the FO the flexibility to go with a player who plays another position in the draft. If Vita Vea and an equally rated player are both available where the Skins would like to draft them, and we have already signed Hankins, then perhaps we take the other player and get stronger as a team than we would have if we hadn't signed Hankins and felt the need to take Vea. That's how i look at it, anyway.
