If he has to settle for a 1 year deal, hoping he choses us.
I am not fan of 1 year deals (unless player had bad season or coming back from injury), I think one year deals for players like Hankins isn't ideal. It puts extra pressure on FO to resign the player next off season while trying to extend contracts with our players with expired contracts or signing some FAs. But then some could point to how this strategy worked out well with Zach Brown.

It also worked for Terrell Pryor. In both cases its a risk mitigator against scheme fit, locker room fit, or contract vs limited sample of "great play"...

Plus and others have mentioned this...contracts of younger performers on the team are coming up...which is true but that leads to obvious bigger discussions with Jordon Reed and Josh Norman contracts not this year but next. Im fairly confident unless Norman has a great/probowl season(he very well could) or Jordan Reed actually stays healthy and performs as a top 6-7 Tight End (he very well could)...both could be last years with the team...which would create the space we needed. Or we could redo their deals...but if one or both don't perform they absolutely WILL NOT get their full money in 2019 from the Skins.

Ideally we would sign him for 1 year, along with Payne or Vea. Next year we have a NT ready to step in, or we resign him if the Rook doesn't work out.

I can understand why as a NT he wants a long term deal though. May be his last real shot at one.
