Looks like he isn't taking a paycut.

Re: Pennington

They were talking about it this mourning on the fan [NYC] it doesn't sound as if Chad is going to budge on his contaract. I really don't want it to happen but I do believe the Jets are going to make a play for Ramsey, I also believe they value him much more than we do.

I wouldn't mind a Ramsey and Arrington trade for Vilma.

Wouldn't that be terrible for both teams though (cap wise)

Re: Pennington

we don't need vilma, marshall is a perfectly capable middle linebacker. As for ramsey and abraham, i'd love to see that trade happen. Who knows, i mean Miami gave a first rounder to philly for feeley, i think it was. Either way, philly got a first rounder for some mediocre qb, we might be able to do the same.

I've been saying that Ramsey is worth a 3rd round pick. What do you think the Jets will give for him?

Re: Pennington

we can't take JA, he's in it for the money and he wants a lot. if we take his new contract, people will have to be released this year an next year to makke up for it... (and i mean starters, not scrubs).

Personally I wouldn't trade him for less than the Jets second, he's worth more to us as a backup than a 3rd rd pick. Brunell is getting older, he is also unwilling to take a hit any longer, I believe that is going to cause a problem this season, Saunders asks his QB's to stand in the pocket, Trent Green was very good at that, Patrick is good at it, and I believe Campbell will also be able to hang in there, I don't believe Brunell will be able to, which makes the backup far more valuable this season. If Brunell can't get it done, or get's injured are we prepared to let Campbell take over the reigns of what could be a super bowl team? I know I wouldn't, I feel much more comfortable with Ramsey in there.

Although if it was up to me Ramsey would be the starter and Brunell would be gone, I wouldn't trade him period.

The Jets still remember that game a few years ago that Ramsey had against them under SS, he looked like a budding star, I think that particular game will go a long way in getting good value from the Jets. As one x- jet's GM said, the word around the league is that Patrick is much more valued by other teams than he is in DC.

Vilma would come in at OLB, and I think your really missing the boat on us not needing Vilma. Let Williams turn that guy lose in our defense he is phenomonal, he would become a top 5 LB in his first year with us, he can do it all.

I don't see the Jets parting ways with Vilma. Abraham yes, Vilma no way.

Re: Pennington

they'd never let vilma go for ramsey. vilma is a much better player and on a relatively cheap contract for years. why would they take his release hit just to give us a great player at a super cheap (since the skins wouldn't have to pay ANY of the bonus money) contract? he's one of their best players on D, one of the players they'll actually be able to keep, so its not happening.

Re: Pennington

Yeah why would the Jets part ways with Vilma. He might not be the next Ray Lewis but from what we've seen so far it seems like he'll always be knocking on the door of that Elitiest of the Elite level.

As for Acquiring Ramsey, I doubt it. Apparently the Jets front office is falling head over heals for Jay Cutler. However if they offer a 3rd round pick for him I'm game (remember we drafted some guy named Chris in the 3rd round in 2004).

Re: Pennington

there'll be talent in the 3rd round this year... but they'd probably only offer a fourth since it's such a high pick.

Re: Pennington

i think the jets might acquire ramsey instead of jay cutler. He has good arm strength, and plus, he spent a season with laverneus coles here in washington, and coles made the pro bowl. That's a good factor, he already has a feel for coles, kinda like peyton and harrison know what they're doing with each other, just not on that level.
@offiss: there's no reason to get vilma. Lavar will be perfectly healthy soon enough and he will get back to top form. He's probably not going anywhere with his cap hit either.
