Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
I'm inclined to agree with irish, someone had to be the fall guy for such a dismal season from the defensive side of the ball. It's not like they didn't know about Lindsey's gruff, and outspoken personality when they hired him, and the issue only came to the forefront with the incident involving LaVar. The previous two seasons when the defende played well, there didn't seem to be a problem, but after last season's debacle someone had to fall, and he seemed to be the most likely choice.

Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
If they were simply looking for a scapegoat then why not Jackson?
The secondary was a bigger mess than the LBs. |

If the ESPN story is true, Jackson deserves to be fired just for being a pouter, let alone a bad coach who fielded a bad unit. |

Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
I'm prone to believe he was fired after Gibbs compiled all of the responses given by the players and coaching staff during the exit interviews (or whatever they're called). He probably noticed some similiarities between players and coaches comments suggesting that Lindsey's presence was not going to be conducive to the success of the team in 2007.

Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
I'm glad he's gone. His whole attitude as well as the failure of the linebackers leads me to believe we're better off without him. Same goes for Steve Jackson, he needs to leave as well. One secondaries coach is enough.

Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
I agree about the fall-guy--someone had to take the heat, and our LBs were not up to snuff.
But they were better than our secondary. I think it was kinda that GW had to fire someone, and he likes Jackson more. Which is not a good sign for our secondary...

B-Mitch had a funny line on his show. He said that the Redskins had one linebacker on the team and he wasn't referring to the converted safety or "Highway 57". |

Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
I'm not saying Lindsey deserved to be scapegoated but I think that when you look at all the coaches that could have been canned he was the one that could be fired without causing the most disruption to the D.

Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
I would think that firing one of our 2 secondary coaches would be less disruptive. After all Lindsey was the "only" LB coach.

if your an a-hole and you're guys play well, you keep your job. when they play as poorly as they did this year though... (not that its his fault holdman sucked)
I'm all for trimming the staff though. Two down (lindsey, (coy) gibbs), more to go (hopefully). |

Re: Lindsey's firing....what does it mean
He never put money into Gibbs' cuss jar and that really upset him.
