Charlie talked about the speech Joe Gibbs gave before hand to the guys, who promptly beat America's Team and completed a 4-0 stand.

Asked what he thought about what the replacement team accomplished, Dan Marino said the Replacemenet players "Didn't do a thing. All they did was take game checks away from NFL players. Sure A few stars crossed the line but that was it."

Gimme a break, Mr. I-Never-won-the-big game.

There were two future hall of famers on that field, and our coaching beat Dallas.

Joe Gibbs won more with less than you ever did.

Good post, except for the America's team part. They have never been, nor never will be america's team...that's why they self dubbed themselves.
If we start calling the Redskins the best franchise in the world, we will all agree, but it doesn't make it true.

Truly sorry about that.

My Sarcastic font was not working.

PS: About the whole Marino as God/Goat, Some will disagree, clearly, but I do believe the failure to get in and win the big game taints his record.

Clearly he had immens talent in the skills needed to throw the ball, etc. But he apparently lacked some leadership skills needed to lead them to the ultimate victory.

Not the same for a WR or LB or other position.

I don't take much away from him in the fact that he has not won a SB. Think about it, he is one of 22 players (not including special teams) on that field. Granted he touches the ball tied for the most, or the 2nd most on the team (center), but there is a team out there.

Under Shula's tenure (83-95) the defense ranked under 10th only 3 times. Their average defensive rank was 15.46 over that span, and keep in mind there were 28 teams, they were below average for Marino's entire career.

Under Jimmie Johnson (1996-1999), here were his defensive ranks, 17th, 16th, 1st, 19th.

How many 1000 yard rushers did he have? So he didn't have a running game, and he didn't have good defenses...how the hell was he supposed to win with that?

I think he comes off as a spoiled baby here. Take issue with the owners, fine, but to criticize the players who came into play for a few games is absurd.
