And the problem would be...?

I've had both what Matty mentioned, major back damage/broken and cracked ribs. Both REALLY SUCK,I'm not sure I can say one is worse than the other depends on how bad and where. Can't do a thing for ribs....yea tapem up... fart and your still in agony. Thank you LORD for great surgeons for back work, do your homework on finding a GREAT Dr. in the field of Spine specialty/Neurosurgeon with a great reputation and success rate.

If you hurt long enough and bad enough and all else fails you will welcome surgery. 35 your just a kid....but good luck, wait until you start getting old boy your in trouble!

Keep your lower back straight when lifting.

Re: F.... Back Pain

So I am going back to the gym this week after a two week vacation from working out. My back feels good as new. I think a combation of rest and my 13 month old son starting to walk on his own has helped my back a ton.

So now you're going to mess it up again by lifting weights. Are you going to be in the olympics? Do you play professional football? Are you auditioning for a role in the re-make of Over the Top? If not, you should keep doing what you've been doing for the last two weeks.

I'm sure you already know this but pay close attention to your technique. I would also work on some exercises that strengthen your back muscles.

Re: F.... Back Pain

Well I am going tonight after work, I was ready to go last night but forgot Caps start at 7. My doctor said it was most likely a muscle strain from lifting my son the wrong way. I plan on taking it slow.

70chip I don't think think I could ever give up the gym I just need to modify how I work out. Actually one of the biggest "pains in your back" at the gym is the treadmill.

thanks everyone for your help!

Working your abs , obliques and low back muscles should help , working your hamstrings and stretching after your workouts should help . Good luck .

Re: F.... Back Pain

I feel for ya dude. I'm 35 (or will be on Memorial Day) & I have had back pain for a long while now. The majority of mine is caused by an accident I had at work back in 2002 when I was working with the Local IBEW. I now have spinal cord deterioration & 2 bulging discs at my L4-L5, & L5-S1 vertebrate. Sometimes, it can actually paralyze me from the waist down. Yea...it sucks.
