I shave with DE razors and a shaving brush like your Grandpa. Blows the Derek Jeter 5-blade monstrosities out of the water in shave quality and cost of blades. I'll see if I have anything to sell you. ![]() I could even assemble a "starter kit" if you want.

Re: F....Paper Cuts
Nice.. the main thing keeping me from doing it is that I really just don't grow much facial hair, I probably couldn't grow a mustache if I tried.. goatee is the only thing.. my sides just get a lil peach fuzz

Re: F....Paper Cuts
You're lucky. My beard grows in so thick and fast. I get 5 o'clock shadow around 1:30pm. lol. It's annoying to have to shave every day.

Re: F....Paper Cuts
haha that does suck.. I usually just hit the mustache area every day, usually without gel.. sides every few days.. then I'll grow the goatee for a few weeks, chop it off and start over F... trimming

Re: F....Paper Cuts
Mine grows that fast too. A vintage DE razor will keep me smooth until the afternoon/evening. When I used cartridge razors...I'd be like sandpaper by lunchtime.

Re: F....Paper Cuts
Everyone has a handful of images burned in their minds over the years.
One of mine is of my dad slowly licking a envelop in front of me and I could clearly see a inch and half paper cut form on his tongue as he did it. He didn't eat solid foods for a couple days. Said it hurt like hell.

Re: F....Paper Cuts
For the thick beard guys... against the grain or with? If i go against, i'll break out like nobody's business. Haven't done it since the Navy...

Re: F....Paper Cuts
I tried against the grain once. And only once. My face was covered in red bumps for two days. I was embarrassed to leave the house.

Re: F....Paper Cuts
Not if you have a sharp blade and good technique. The best ones come from Israel.
I do a pass with and then one against. (re-lather for each pass of course) My face is like a baby's bottom. TO the electric recommendation...I've had 2 of them...feel like sandpaper afterward. I've never had a good shave from an electric. Oh...paper cuts...yeah, I get a lot of them as an accountant. Hate them. But, the real pain comes when you get a cleaning chemical in a paper cut. You could not even know you had a cut until you get the wrong chemical in it...then it opens up like a taco shell and turns red as it burns like Mount Wannahockaloogie erupting.

Re: F....Paper Cuts
OK, but you're gonna regret starting this conversation with me...
I have a collection of razors, but here are the ones in my usual rotation to use: ![]() ![]() ![]() My favorite brush: My favorite blades: *CAN GET 100 BLADES FOR $12.00...WHERE YOU GET ABOUT 5 CARTRIDGES FOR THAT IF YOU'RE LUCKY...SUPERIOR SHAVES FOR PENNIES A SHAVE. Crystal Double Edge Razor Blades (100 Blades) [RB-CRY-002] - $12.00 : West Coast Shaving, Double Edge Blade Sampler Packs ![]() SHAVE SOAP: $2 at pharmacies or Walmart for a good soap ![]() or upgrade for about $4 to: ![]() SHAVING CREAM MOOD INSTEAD OF SOAP? $5 at Bath and Body Works...feels awesome. I use it for Travel. Same as Proraso vintage shave cream: ![]() Finally, my go-to After Shave, wife loves it too. About $6 at any pharmacy. They make a Bay Rum that I like a lot too. It's a traditional barber shop favorite:
