I hate to say it, but they have a point about both these players.
ESPECIALLY, when you take the dollars they are making into account. Is Samuels worth 9 million dollars/year? Not in a million years. Is Levarr worth the money he is getting? Nope. Both of these players are making about twice what they should. That being said, I think Arrington has the desire and is definately an athletic freak of nature. I think Williams will help turn him into a player who earns his cash. Samuels should be cut at the end of the season if he doesn't renegotiate for a more resonable contract. |

wonder if seeing Lemar Marshall perform so well and being part of the no.2 defense w/o him will temper Arrington a little bit.
exactly what made this defense so good was that no one was being a 'star' (except Sean Taylor). everyone played their roles to the plan and thats why no offense knew what was coming. everyone had a chance to get a sack in, Williams mixing everything up putting no obvious emphasis on anybody. everyone marvels at Pierce and it's because he plays smart and sound without making ANY splashy plays. any criticism of Sean Taylor this year is exactly because he tried TOO hard to stand out, and is most likely why Williams kept Bowen and Lott in front of him until they got injured. if anything, having LaVar out this year deprived Williams of a defensive DECOY along with a handful more sure-fire sacks. |

I really wish we could have seen LaVar all year in this defense.

Defensewins: You didn't watch the MOnday night (I think) game against the Chiefs then. Where their Oline sometimes doubled him but most of the time Will Sheilds (I think again) singlehandedly owned Ray Lewis like a bitch!
I heard a commentator even say that Ray Lewis should be on that list before Urlacher. He's not what he used to be and benefits from great players around him. Not saying I totally agree, but I think Ray Lewis is the most overhyped player in the NFL. |

Lavar and Samuels are overrated. As for Lavar it's not all his fault. He would be much further along if he played in one defensive system his whole career. Injuries have also been a factor. Samuels has been good, but not the pro bowler he is billed as.

samuels is garbage to me. i really like seeing lower round draft picks to come in (wilson) and do a great job. i like them because of their lack of bigheadedness. Bugel can get theses guys to buy in on what he is saying. like bostic, joe etc. i want a left tackle that has nothing to lose and everything to gain and bugel can whip him in to one of the best. and it all starts with the players mindset which first rounders are more bigheaded.

Samuels has made some very good plays this year. He, like everyone else, needs time to adapt. That being said, he better restructure or he's outta here.

I really do not think it would matter for LaVar. He is definetly a player who will have a short lived career. As much as I like to see him on the field. His chances of getting hurt are doubled of the average player. It is so hard to get a solid view on Samuels. One day no one can get by. Then the next a 95 year old grandpa with no legs could blow by him. The only way Samules will be here next year is if he restructures his vastly over-paid contract.

Samuels has had a decent year and he's also been quietly playing hurt.
Hopefully he'll restructure, get healthy and bounce back strong in '05. |

Lemar has been adequate, I want to see Clemon's get a real shot that guy has some serious speed and look's very aggresive, he's probably right now a little green instinct wise but let's see if he progresses, you can teach a player to play LB, you can't teach speed and he has it. |
