Re: Wade Phillips to Interview with the Redskins

I'll give you an example. Why not talk to Ken Norton? Former player and a damn good one. He's been coaching for a while, he can probably relate and motivate the players better than Phillips. He comes from a winning environment. He comes from a place where competition is a priority and they put a very strong emphasis on tackling and fundamentals. Why not think outside the box? This organization needs to go away from the good ole boy network in the worst way possible. I think bringing someone in like him is exactly what this team needs.

And may I add leadership and accountabilty in the locker room. When you are a nice guy people take advantage. Give me Norton if he is willing to become our DC anyday.

Good stuff!
Wade much like his father is a straighf shooter who gets results, and often from little talent. You can believe what his tells you is the truth as he knows it.....like his father. This wil be a great move if we can pull it off both for the D and for Jay because I his HC background as has been pointed out

Why?? Just for its own sake? This kind of "thinking" makes no sense to me.

This is completely speculative, you have no idea if Norton can motivate better than Phillips, you're now just saying things with no factual basis.

Don't overthink it, Wade's resume is what it is for a reason.

This is sounding like when Shanahan was hired. And how did that turn out? But he's been to 2 SB's, blah, blah, blah.

Hopefully he'll be like his daddy and bring along a young Earl Campbell.

It's not exactly the same as Shanahan. But the element of "Bruce and his homies" remains the same.

Re: Wade Phillips to Interview with the Redskins

Phillips would be an AJ Smith move, not Allen.

Re: Wade Phillips to Interview with the Redskins

Who's to say there isn't an up and comer on the D staff now? Olividotti and Baker have gotten good reviews both inside the franchise and from local media.

What's wrong with WP coming in, giving these guys a little more time to learn the craft and then move one of them up?

Not saying it's going to happen or "the plan," but maybe we could hold on to our own "up-and-comers" rather than rushing out to get the next big thing?

Gibbs might have been nice but laid down the law by cutting or putting players in the doghouse when they screwed up.

I mentioned those 2 and both should be given a chance to interview, why not give one a chance instead of losing them to another team.

So are you saying that nice guys can succeed or that Wade Phillips will mandate that all of his players skip every practice and become alcoholics?
