I tend to agree with folks here that I would not be setting any world land speed records to make either trade. But I have a strong reason to believe that both trades have been offered.

I agree that losing Smoot is the wrong thing to do now since there isn't anyone on the roster who looks like a guy just waiting to start at CB in order to shine. I don't like that trade at all. Imagine trading Smoot away and Springs getting injured so that he misses 6 games. Given what is on the roster now, the word that springs to mind is "OUCH !!!"

The second one is appealing to some small degree because what the Skins give up is Trotter (pretty much gone anyway) and a mid-round pick next year (not good to lose but not a horrendous price either) in order to move up from #5 to #1. Everyone here is correct, the Skins don't need the #1 pick this year to utilize the draft for their needs, but think about what you might possibly get for the #1 pick. Before I turned that deal down, I'd go around the league to see what I might get for the overall #1 pick. If that deal was sweet, I'd consider the Trade #2 only as a prelude to a future deal.

Whatever...

I didn't mean Smoot, I meant trading the #1 overall pick out for more picks.

i understand what you mean but i just dont like the thought of moving up to just trade back down. i think its safer to see what you could get for the 5th pick and see what you can get for trotter. then just hold on to next years picks. just seems risky just to move up to see what happens.

I think all of the options everyone has posted seem very interesting but mabye for once we should keep our picks, keep gardner and draft Taylor and acutally build through the draft with our three picks this year and i guess six next year.

No pun intended with "the word that springs to mind is OUCH!!!" right Curmudgeon?

First off, I wouldn't trade Smoot! No way! No how! Although I have been tempted to change my user name to Khary Campbell Fan Club

And I completely agree that if you're going to try for the #1 overall pick I'd first see what I could get for that pick. I wouldn't want to keep the pick but use it, as curmudgeon says, for future moves

Smoot is now the best corner we have and we would be idiots to trade him.

I agree completely. Smoot has steadily gotten better each year, has become a huge team leader, and has won over a lot of fans by his play and attitude. IMO he could possibly be headed to the Pro-bowl this year...

1. No pun intended!

2. Khary Campbell Fan Club is much too long a screen name for me to type. If you adopt it, I'll have to refer to you KCFC...

Well I guess that settles it for me. Under no circumstances can we trade Smoot. Making Smootsmack moot is impermissable.

Hmmm....interesting. I'll have to come up with some obscure symbol, maybe something that combines a football and a microphone
