Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I Agree with that. Finally making the right moves in march and April to win in December/January and maybe one day in February. Let Miami win right now, just like Tampa bay last year... How did it end up for Tampa bay?

Actually this has been from a NFL stand point a boring FA Class; not just the Redskins.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
the signing bonus is spread out evenly over the years of the contract. incentives count either the year they are enacted or the year after (depending on the type) and roster bonuses count in full the year they're enacted.
so the current restructures probably involved unlikely to be earned incentives (which count against next year if reached). if moss caught 27 balls this year, the incentive could be to catch 28 next year and it'd be unlikely i believe. |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I'm not worried about the RB position. MS is known for being able to pick up what he needs in a RB in the draft.
A RT and another WR and TE is what I'm concerned about. The Tackle from the Browns might fix one spot. If Davis stays healthy then we have another spot fixed plus I thought the team picked up a TE right after our season ended (maybe PS player). |

Why re-sign Kedrick Golston? Team needs every penny going towards resolving the secondary.

I agree, but I think his deal is a vet min for three years with the big money coming from his signing bonus which I don't think counts to the cap.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Free agent RT Tyler Polumbus will visit the Jaguars on Thursday.
The Jaguars are in dire need of a right tackle after Cameron Bradfield and Guy Whimper stunk up the joint at the position last season. However, Polumbus wasn't much better in Washington. Jacksonville needs to be aiming higher for a starter. Source: Mike Jones on Twitter

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
You are the second person today questioning whether signing bonuses count against the cap. Is there a new rule about signing bonuses that im missing?

http://www.thewarpath.net/salary-cap...cap-101-a.html What are Signing Bonus Allocations? - Signing bonus is guaranteed. It is usually received in a lump sum payment upon signing a new contract, though sometimes signing bonus payments are scheduled one or more years into the future. Signing bonus does not count in full against the salary cap in the year it is received. Instead, the signing bonus amount is allocated equally amongst the remaining years of the contract (6 years max). This is only for salary cap purposes; the player still receives the entire signing bonus amount up front. If the player is released or traded, any future signing bonus allocations accelerate to the present, and this amount will still count against the team's salary cap even though the player is no longer with the team. This is usually referred to as Dead Cap. |

Signing bonuses count against the cap. Teams just have the option of pro-rating the signing bonus over the length of the deal. Meaning, if its a 3 million signing bonus on a 3 year contract, teams have the option to split the bonus up so it only counts 1 million each year.

Mike Jones @MikeJonesWaPo
Confirmed OT Jeremy Trueblood is visiting #Redskins this weekend. Eight-year vet, played 9 games last season, starting 1.
