He was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2011, according to his wife. Which meant that most likely his last couple of coaching stops he was battling the disease. Incredible when you think about it. I remember his time here very well, thought he was a good hire and we would have no where to go but up from 8-8, but Snyder i guess in what would for a while be a staple of this organization, fired him after the single season..

I hope we reach a cure for this some day. I've walked this road with relatives and its just hellish - worse thing you can imagine
My friend's dad is dealing with this, it's absolutely terrible. Has to have care 24/7 because it's like caring for a baby in a grown man's body. There's no sense of right or wrong, no filter that says "don't do this." I can't imagine what it's like. I feel bad for Marty S. and his family on this one, the further down the road they go the worse it gets.

I'm not trying to be morbid, but at 73 you have to wonder how much longer he has. He could peacefully die of natural causes / "old age" before the alzheimers destroys what life he has left. It sounds like right now, he is doing really good. I understand the speed of it is different for each person. Some people have it for years on years before it gets bad / noticeable, while some people that get it are gone mentally within just a few years....

Yeah every case is unique, no doubt about that. From the article it seems like it's manageable for Marty so far which is good. My friend's dad has had it for 3 years and is incontinent and requires round the clock care. He's also 84 though, and from what I hear probably won't last longer than another couple of years. It's just a shitty situation all around.

I really hope it doesn't end badly for Marty, I've heard one of the common causes of death with Alzheimers is your brain losing the function to swallow, which leads to food going down the air hole into your lungs and eventually death from pneumonia or drowning (for example if you drink something and it all goes into your lungs). Sounds like a terrible way to go.

At 73 this could go on for years. My Dad died in 97 it wasn't this but strokes and the first only affect his swallowing but we never knew it and the Doctors never saw it ,we thought it was the dentures he had just had put in.After a series of a few more strokes he was bed ridden and died 8 years later. All I want to say is a long illness regardless of the disease is devastating to the loved ones and caregivers.
Please to all who are around my age or anyone with kids make sure all your affairs are in order for the sake of the family,a will , a "living will"and in my case I got a "no code" notarized statement to help out if anything happens.

The excellence of the Patriots year after year is mentally taxing. Brady eat some hamburgers and get old already. Sheer dominance today.

If he gets suspended that will just make the NFL look like more of a joke. Innocent in the court of law > suspended anyways by the NFL = retarded.

Re: Around the No Fun League - Week 7

In my NFL if you're a piece of shit douche bag that waits until the ball is hiked to call a timeout you get a 15 yard penalty and a dick kick. Such a bitch move. A pussy bitch move with zero actual proof it works. Head coaches are all just lemmings. They read a book that dictates their calls. Pathetic little followers. Brainless pussy zombies.

Not terribly pertinent to this thread but watch Wilbur Marshall almost kill this guy with a hit.
Wow!

That defense was just sick. Possibly the greatest ever.
That hit was tough to watch. He totally lowers his head. Today that would cost him a lot of cash, and there would be flags all over the joint.
