Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
A rookie fourth round draft pick that has not really played against a first string NFL defense yet... not even in the preseason...
Greg Williams just got a gift.

Mmm... pie. P.S. Cedric Benson finally signed with the Bears. Wonder how much of him we'll see?

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
didnt the bears play in one of the first preseason game this year, against miami i beleive? That gives them an extra game and explains the inflated stats.
Either way...we better start the season off with a win. We should be able to dominate the bears. Sean Taylor should have a field day with a rookie QB

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
I'm more worried about THEIR defense. aren't they supposed to be big run stoppers? should be a good test for our ground game.

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
Orton has the tools to be a good QB but I don't see him being able to lead this team to a win, on the road, against a very aggressive defense, on opening day, with really no proven running attack. Benson just signed and we don't know what his conditioning is like, but just ask Carlos Rogers about the conditioning element. However, I am NOT going into this game over confident and cockey. We still need to play smart, error-free football and put some points on the board to come away with a win. Hutchinson's failure is no surprise. He is another former cowpuss. He sucks donkey. Oh yeah... and ....Dallas sucks.

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
shit it didn't see this topic before i made mine. damn *mooby slaps himself*. oh well, i think that this is great news, no matter how good he is. a rookie qb going up against one of the league's top defense, well we'll be putting out blitzes like he's never seen before. i think we easily score 21 points against them.

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
If our o-line continues to play at the level it did Friday, we'll have one of the top rushing attacks in the league.

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
I live about 2 hours away from Chicago so I hear plenty of talk about the Bears. I've read a ton of articles about Orton. In nearly every interview, Orton acts like he was the draft's top overall pick and already has his bust in Canton. Orton has to be one of the cockiest rookies in the history of the league (and that says a lot). I can't wait for our defense to unload on him and unload his bladder and colon all over the field.

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
I've heard that about him too. I was reading what Mushin said and that he "was the most 'confident' rookie he's ever known, almost borderline cocky".
Rude awakenings come September 11th.

Re: Defense Opens Up Against a Rookie
Orton was good at Purdue but may end the game as a corpse. There might be questions about us on offense, but I think there is no question this rook is in for a furious beat down come 9/11.
