Re: Explosion at Texas Fertilizer Plant
I've seen many things and videos in my life time, some real, some not so real, with different reactions. I can't think of the last time my jaw just dropped like that, watching that video above. That kid in the video made me feel the pain of that video quicker. It was like I was there. Wow, just wow. Hopefully this isn't connected to Boston, but I have a bad feeling this might be.

Re: Explosion at Texas Fertilizer Plant
Dunno right now, but fertilizer is extremely flammable anyway. My hope is that it's just a really tragic accident but the timing is absolutely horrible.

Re: Explosion at Texas Fertilizer Plant
Timothy Mcveigh blew up half a building with a van full of fertilizer, this is the result from a plant full of fertilizer. Ammonia nitrate to be exact.
Some apartments nearby. Mother of god.

Why in the hell do they have a fertilizer facility that close to a school and other residential structures? Photo Album - Imgur

What if the fertilizer plant was there first? If it was then people chose to move near it.

Re: Explosion at Texas Fertilizer Plant
Not sure which story I saw it in but, apparently, the factory had been cited at least once (and maybe more, don't recall) for its emmissions being to high in certain chemicals and (I think) were under a court order to bring them down. I remember there being a few other citations against them also. Not sure if they were of the substantive variety or the the "You have too many five too many parking spaces for the space alloted" type violations. The impression I got was that the company was running on a shoe string and was trying to cut regulatory corners.
To me, this just looks like a tragic accident and 50 years of litigation.
