I think that the Chargers made a mistake. They should have traded the #1 overall to the Giants for what they gave them for Manning. Then traded it down again to the Texans at #10. The Texans wanted Sean Taylor bad. I'm glad the above scenario didn't happen, but if I were in SD's place I woulda done that.
but we don't know with complete certainty that the trade was complete when the giants drafted rivers. it might have been the giants saying, "hey, we've got your guy plus a couple other picks if u'll give us the rights to manning." sure that would have been a risk if san diego declined but then ny might have been able to also work out a deal with pittsburgh cuz it wasn't a sure thing for rotheslisberger to slip to #11.
