Ultimately we will ask ourselves what we would do in the situation and it will be a reflection of how power changes all of us but now he has come back to his roots and he's sorry for his past crimes, but wait... he probably still has evil left in him so should we trust him?, he confronts rick and rick isn't sure who do believe, then his son will come in and kill him and he'll be like, "Carrrlll don't", and then the old man will say it's what had to be done and we're all living in this crazy world which is in turn a statement on society today and what we become because of the craziness around us.... and people are dying, and yatta yatta...
