That phrase, when applied to RG3, has never made sense to me. If he was running 20-30 times a game and taking a lot of hits like a running back, then I could see. But running less than 10 times a game, as well as getting out of bounds and sliding on a lot of runs, does not equate to "getting his wheels run off."
