If Shanahan were a bad coach, or the team felt that HE was responsible for the current messy situation, they wouldnt be saying that. Ultimately, theres a pissing match going on between the coach and a diva QB. Fletchers comments indicate the players Side with their coach, not the Diva.... yet, so many of you want to rally behind the Diva - the source of the teams problems - and throw the coach away? Explain that to me please.

Also explain this to me - if RG3 can do this to Shanahan, a well respected, established Head Coach... how on earth do you think things will be better with a college coach in his first NFL gig? Or a coordinator in his first HC role? Change isnt always good people.
K, Here we go. I was a big Shanahan advocate, and publically lobbied for him to stay not long ago... but you have to look at the body of work.
  • John Beck fiasco
  • Donovan McNabb fiasco (traded a 2nd rnd pick)
  • Josh LeReibus (3rd rnd pick, bust)
  • Jamall Brown (traded for a mid rnd pick)
  • Keeping RG3 in the game, injuring your Franchise QB, potentially ruining his career here in Washington. Great call Mike.
  • 5-11, 6-10, and 3-11 (so far) seasons.
  • Leaking stories to the media
  • Atrocious special teams this year
  • Josh Morgan sucks

There's much more, but that's the first stuff I thought of just now. I don't care if you're Bill effin Bellicheck and all of your cap space is taken away and you can't sign anyone to any contracts but veteran min, this record speaks for itself.

This isn't the same as firing Shottenheimer, or Spurrier, or Zorn... this isn't a knee jerk reaction based on a terrible previous move. This was Snyder sitting back, letting him do the work, be the boss...and it's blown up right in his face. Patience has been exercised... and the logical, rational, diligent move is to move on.

It's time to finally try something so incredible obvious, it hurts that we haven't done it. Copy the formula of a winning franchise.

Hire a true GM, and give him full control of all the personnel operations. Hire a coach- one that isn't a re-tread... but someone hungry and to win a Superbowl. Change the culture in Washington, eliminate the circus, and stop trading away high draft picks.
