Eh, it's Allen's way regardless of the penalty.

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
This is the first offseason that Bruce Allen has really been in charge of player personnel here in Washington. Past FA mistakes, or the "same old Redskins" if you prefer, weren't Allen's doing, as far as I understand it. Is it a big change of culture, or is this merely Bruce Allen's way of doing things? I don't think a huge change came over everyone in the Redskins' FO; it's just that Allen's in charge now, and this is the result. I bet if Allen weren't here this offseason, we would have been the "same old Redskins."

Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

It has to be, schedules are due out in what a week or two? No refrigerator magnets have been printed yet. We should be good to go for a DJax payback game. Him and his "gang" (garcon, griff, reed, almo, etc) should be amped up for a good ole fashion beat down of the birds! |

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
While I'm excited at the prospect of what Jackson is going to do on the field for us,I just cant get over this bad feeling the Eagles have fleeced us somehow.
They definitely got over on us on the Mcnabb trade and while this is not a direct trade with us its just to good to be true. We talk all the time about how somebodys worth a draft pick,Cousins is worth a 2nd,Fred Davis is worth a 4th,etc.I dont know for sure whether the Eagles tried to trade him or not,but how do you not get something in return for this guy? The Eagles know him better than anybody,I dont see any of his Eagles teammates having his back. Like I said it just seems to good to be true, and you know the saying about that. As far as him doing any returns,I doubt he will.Skins have a long history of not using their best punt returners as punt returners for fear of injury and I've never understood it. Other teams have used their starters as punt returners,Rod Woodson,Deon Sanders come to mind. You cant control when a players going to get hurt, your paying him the big money so let him do what hes good at. Skins should have used D.Green as a returner.I can forgive them for not using him in that role in his prime, but he should have been used more.Especially his last yr,he still had the speed, only saw the field in nickel package, there was no reason not to. Should have used Moss more or DeAngelo Hall last yr when we sucked so bad

Its not completely unbelievable that him and Kelly didnt mesh, or that the Eagles didnt want to pay him. We are paying him less than they would have, plus they do have Maclin coming back. I know as Redskins fans we are always waiting for the axe to fall, but this is actually us hitting the lottery. |

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
Gotta think this is all about the $. Tough to trade someone when they're carrying that big of a contract. I have my reservations too, but I think the deal we signed really protects us from any damaging effects down the line. Thrilled at this deal.

a. Doing very little to keep talented/productive player on their roster b. Not getting something out of a player that other teams coveted (sh*t, we got at least something out of McNabb and Haynesworth) c. Not making sure to keep D. Jax out of a division rival (trade him to the Raiders or Browns for a 7th rounder) Chip Kelly wanted D. Jax out without considering how he's going to make up for his production. I know it's not the same thing, but it sort of reminds me of when McDaniels ran Jay Cutler out of town in Denver b/c he wanted "his guy".
