Re: ExtremeSkins Fan View
We can argue this until we're blue in the face, in fact I think we have already.
The fact remains that Brunell was hand picked by Gibbs, and Gibbs obviously believes that Brunell gives the team the best chance at winning games. It doesn't have anything to do with ego or trying to prove people wrong or the fact that Brunell is a religious person (Ramsey is too for the record). If you believe these things you really don't understand the kind of man Joe Gibbs is. He wants to win, and he wants to win now. He would never put his ego in front of the team. Case in point, look at the changes he's made to the offense. He's using the shotgun now for crying out loud, something that he used to have a strong dislike for. He's added more 3 and 4 WR sets, and he's added running plays and blocking schemes that better fit the style of Portis. He's not afraid to try new things even if it means doing something that in the past he didn't believe in. He's very open-minded because in the end he only has one goal in mind... and that's winning. |

Re: ExtremeSkins Fan View
Yeah, I turned blue in the face over this one about two days after the whole thing went down. I didn't even have the energy to fully respond to one of my post that I got crap over.
Let's just play some football and get to the playoffs. |

Re: ExtremeSkins Fan View
Anyway you look at the Brunell signing was a bust even if he leads us to a winning season. He was brought in as vet with what was thought alot of skills and 3 to 4 more years as a starting QB. Gibbs was wrong but he cannot step infront of the press and say that at this time the guy is still a player on this team. I do not think Gibbs played him for 9 games because he gave him a huge contract. I think he stayed in because Ramsey showed nothing in preason just as Brunell and Gibbs was hoping that our offense and Brunell would improve. Which it did not. I still say we have to face the fact that neither Ramsey nor Brunell are QBs of the skins future and that soon we will be watching Campbell as our starter. That will give Gibbs about 3 1/2 years to groom Campbell and make a run at the SB. I would love to say otherwise but I don't think its likley that either Ramsey or Brunell will turn things around and lead us to the playoffs this year. I would love to be proven wrong but I just don't see that happening. We could have a winning season but it will probaly not be because of an outstanding perfomance from either Mark or Ramsey.I'm sorry I did not post as a reply but this is a reply to Paulskinfan.

Just like the Bears may slip under some radar screens this year, I think the same is true for the Redskins. And if it comes down to any tie breakers between us and the Bears, we'll get the nod. As far as Campbell goes, I was thinking he'll challenge for the starting spot next year but could possibly lose out to Brunell and start the following year. God knows, I hope I'm wrong but we'll have to see on that one. One things for sure some questions will get answered tonight. |
